Any thoughts or advice on possible IHR

Two years ago I developed a permanent hip condition that prevented me from continuing on my standard fulltime delivery job.
After 2 ATOS referrals I was offered a part time deep rural van duty, which I could do, but meant a drop to part time hours(with no buy down).

I did this duty for over a year, but a few months ago it was rubbed out in a full office modenisation revision.

Following another ATOS referral I was put on a 5 day 21 hour collection duty, which is fine for me. To make up my time to my 30 hour contract I come in before my collection starts to take out a loop or so left by the delivery staff ( a loop is the limit of my hips capabilities). There has never been a day without this or some other(eg packets) work to do. The collection duty is mine now, not a cover situation.

The DOM has now asked me to voluntarily drop my hours to just the 21 hours of the collection duty (again no money involved). As I am reluctant to do this as it will make things difficult finantially for me, the DOM has Just referred me back to ATOS with a view to IHR on the basis that there are no 30 hour contracts I can do, even though I am fine on my 21 hour collection duty and there is always a bit of top up delivery to do.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

hmmm the less your hours are, the less your weekly wages is, and the lower rate of IHR you get when it finally comes. So management are playing a nice card here. But it depends on what you want. Would you be able to cope on 21 hours wages a week? Would you be able to work again (outwith royal mail)? You've got to look at the whole picture and decide what's best for you. It suited me to take my IHR as I had only been there a couple of years. So for the time I had been there, the pay out was pretty nice. However, if I had been there for years as some of u guys had, I would be shocked at how little money it is. Think what you need to do here is look at your finances and see what suits you best. Do what suits you and not what suits RM.
