what about rural delivery method revisions?

Post by vigilante »

Ok heard all about park and loop now!!

Any offices had problems with GEO-ROUTE and planning on rural deliveries in the methods revisions???
What have they done with rurals in your area?

The rural routes in our office stayed mainly the same, hence they are some of the few duties that are working!

To be honest why would you attempt to revise rural duties unless you plan to change them into town/rural hybrids and split up the rural element?
It's not as if you can have a change in delivery methods and if the rural has been going for any length of time it will no doubt be far more efficient than anything pegasus throws out.
Indoor work will obviously be revised if you have Walksequenced mail.

Rurals haven't been tested at all since I have been there and thats a long time, they would be way over if done properly.
The geo-route is useless for rurals but they still want to try it, thats my problem.
Yes they could make hybrids and split rurals up but what a mess!

The very first geo route cock ups were with rural offices, Kilmarnock and Lanark. For road safety reasons Geo route plots deliveries from the left hand side of the road since turning right is dangerous! Further unless farm track speeds are accurately recorded the default road speed is applied.

Planners now seem to accept that the best method of plotting rurals is done by the duty holder.

Some rurals at my D.O have IPS so if that were to be no longer nesscary they would need revising or become PT rurals.

Shouldn't be too worried about it there won't be any fecking rural deliveries in the end.

Exactly...so if your sitting in a D.O. that's mostly rurals...you better start coming up with an exit strategy.

True mate, Geo-route just won't cope with rural deliveries.
Like we have always said-come and bloody test the rounds, but they never have, too feckin afraid of what they will find that will ruin their little
business plan cuts.

A little snippet in the Sunday or Daily Mirror stated that rural areas may only get a delivery 3 times a week................so that would constitute a revision

It's obvious DV with a company and government obsessed with profit and privatisation that the rural areas which are so
expensive to deliver to will suffer.
When we were not strangulated by the idiot regulator, appointed by the government, we could pay for service to the rural people who make
up big percentage of deliveries.
Service, remember that, bloody thatcher and her American friend were the start of the end of that. :evil/mad
