I've had enough, time to get out

Not even a year in too. I really enjoyed my job until very recently, even though it's the crappest drive in the world. Now though the small 'perks' I used to get, like having a few SDs taken off me when I do the missort run, have been taken away. Our DOM isn't the type to discuss problems either. He makes a decision and sticks by it even though he may be wrong. His refusal to even talk about certain issues is very frustrating. It's like dealing with a 6 year old who sticks their fingers in their ears and shouts "I can't hear you".

Last week he even told me that the manager at the missort hub had complained that I get there too early! So, the next time I was there I asked him why he had complained. I knew what the answer would be, he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. It turns out one of his favourites (some woman who's been on light duties for about 75 years) who has to take over missort duties after I've tied up reckons she has too much to do. Must be tough sitting around the office all day on her arse.

Anyway, I'm job hunting.

I found that driving just got harder and harder. I am guessing your a support driver ? If so they always lump extra parts to the duty such as dropping off extra bags and 9am SD.

I thought long and hard about all the perks of driving a RM van and then gave it up

When you say support driver is that the same as rest day cover? If so then that's not my role. I have a permanent drive and I alternate the missort run with a local DO. It's a tough drive but the small concessions the DOM made helped. Now he's taken them away it's a very unpleasant duty.

I'm a rural driver and every business plan that comes along it is us that get's shafted all the time but
we cannot take any more whatsoever!
About getting out, yes I would if there was anything else-but there isnt!
All I want is a good payout but that aint gonna happen!!

Oh i see. Our support driver used to do the missort run (now cancelled). he would also drop off bags and overweight parcels along with the larger SD and the 9am's. They have now put some firms on him as well as since the revision they were not getting any mail till 1pm.

We have not had a missort run for the last nine months,i do not think that RM are interested in quality any more,only profit.

Our mis-sort run was cancelled last week, presumably in anticipation of P&L cut offs, as P&L has finally been pencilled in for this Summer.

I dont know fish they just cancelled it about 8 months ago It had gone from the stage where we used to be ready and had to wait for it before we went out to the point that we were not even bundled up when they came in. They just want us out the door asap nowadays and not to cut off.

We leave loads of first class mail that is for the flyers as they have already gone out before i finish sorting my packet bag.

I too have had enough, I'm currently retraining so I can leave RM. All this absorbing and being told if you don't do it it's willfull delay, the constantly being told RM is skint, being told mail volumes down when we know they aren't and the colleague shares now being worthless......

After all our hard work, losing our early shift allowance and losing our D2D money. We got told RM is skint.. hard cheese... do loads more work until your back breaks and you knees cave in then they will hound you with their mutts at ATOS until they sack you or you sack yourself by coming before your better and go sick again.

Absorbtion is only there to make up your full hours , ie: as time allows. It can only be willful delay if you leave to go home early and just left it. If you know your not going to have time to complete your duty and the absorbtion you simply tell a manager before you go out. If your already out and find your running out of time you phone the office asap and tell a manager you wont be able to cover your absorbtion.

Its then THEIR problem to get it covered or take it out themselves.

You tell the manager you can't before going out then he replies that mail volumes are down so there's no excuse for not doing it then walks off. All this week though we have just found sacks/pouches in our drop points labelled up with our walks and "Absorbtion" written on. I challenged the line manager on this the following morning and he told me that he doesn't have to tell us any more and we should just expect it everyday. I asked the DoM wtf and was told that RM is skint and we need to absorb even more....

Phoning the office is a waste of time as none ever answers the phone.
