In the current climate i still say a strike is wrong. However i would support it if the CWU chucked out the whole agreement including the 6 lots of door 2 doors and any chance of flexing.

Really good idea to go on strike when mail is down (usually less mail in summer anyway), and when we are going to be privatised, this would really give the employer ammo why they need external assistance.
I believe rm would love us on strike, it will give them the opportunity to get the rest of the plan in, with full agreement by billy and co, like they did last time,

And lastly i will not strike for london, they are no better or worse than anyone else, no matter how the cwu beef their closures up. Colleagues up and down the country have had to deal with it , without a national strike, let london do the same. I am sick of hearing about their woes

I hear what your saying about a strike playing into RM hands and your right. However London posties are still CWU members and you should support them. If we divide and start bitching within ourselfs the Union has lost before it has even started.

Dont forget London gave up the most days pay in the last action (think it was 18 or so).

Why did london strike longer than anyone else? Iheard it allegedly was because they wanted to keep their ghost overtime, and wanted to have 4day weeks and be paid overtime for it.
I apologise and stand corrected if i am wrong about this info
A union should be about creating jobs, any long term regular overtime should be converted into jobs, for eg: part time contracts into full maybe then, we will not lose as many.

Yep mate you are correct but i did not mean you HAD to support the union but i meant as a member your really should, if that makes sense, of courseit your choice.

I also saw the documentary on tv showing London’s 4 day walks and I thought the same as you when I was working a full 8 hour day 5 days a week.

It all comes down to do you support the Union or not ? Now I think the last deal was totally pants and i was gutted when it was accepted and I was not proved wrong. Now if the Union call a strike I doubt I will vote for it in the current climate BUT i wont give in to RM and i would not cross a picket line.

sorry but i wont go on strike, also think over 50% of rm workers wont. like its already been said on here you would be playing right into rm hands. the only way is a work to rule. no going in early too sort mail ect. start on your time finish on your time, thats the only way i can see us getting anywere with this farce

What if they were to withdraw the 6 lots of d2d's and flexing (absorbtion) as this was part of the deal which RM have now welched upon.

I dont want to drag up the CollegeShares thing as there is a seperate thread going but i know for a fact 3 posties in my office who left just weeks ago all recieved the FULL £1400 payment , so where has the money gone.

If the CWU go all out for a NEW agreement with better terms i maybe tempted to give it a go.

Let me say this very clearly!
if we go on strike......it will be to defend the agreement! not to renegotiate a new one.
Everything that was given up in the last 2 agreements is gone forever.
