ANY GOOD MANAGERS??

Are there any good managers within Royal Mail?
I've yet to read a topic on here that has anything complimentary to say about any manager.
Surely they can't all be bad?
I know i've worked for some good managers (and some bad) and I also have to work with some good staff and some that are just totally unreasonable.
I am proud to work for Royal Mail but am not proud to be associated with a large percentage of Royal Mail employees who always find the negative in any situation.
I find the newer recruits are the most reasonable because long gone are the days when we finished two hours early.
If i had a pound every time someone says "it's not like it used to be" i'd be a very rich man.
Correct it's not like it used to be. Name me an industry that is!
Bottom line is and always should be....if it's such a poor place to work....do something about it!...and if there are no positives it is definitely time to move on and not drag your colleagues down with you.

I ve known quite a few managers that ive got along with just fine. Prob about 60/40 mix good.

However they all have their office favs
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I know 1 who is a decent guy and very on the ball. And 1 who is also a decent guy but is pretty useless at his job! :chuckle

Had a really good manager once, so they bumped him sideways a few times. He struggled through and actually became a better manager despite what his bosses did. He finally had enough and left just after the strikes in 2007.
Had a few really good linos over the last 10 years though. Knew the job inside and out, knew the office and the staff, did they use their experience? Of course not.

We try to do something about it Rod, we really do, but when the only way we can do anything about it is by striking, it's not very appealing, especially when your own union is waiting to sell you out (again). Also it's not us dragging our colleagues down, rather it's working for this oppressive, repressive and dishonest company.
RM claim "We're broke, your colleague shares are worth nothing...........bye Adam, here's your £2.5MILLION"
RM claim "We need to modernise.............sack a few more thousand"
RM claim "Tools for the job..............here's a bag, there's another dozen waiting for you"

I've met some that are decent people...and some that know what they are talking about...and i've even met a couple who were both...but i've never met one i could trust 100%.
I suppose that comes with having a £30k+ job to protect....your ultimate loyalty lies with your own position,not with the guys on the floor. :neutral:

There are a few good managers who really do care..... However they are riddiculed and harrased by their DOM's & Area Managers for not fully towing the RM propaganda line.
