Totally stupid planners

Just had a meeting with our planners for our park and loop revision to show me the revised walk that I do now.
Over the last few months have struggled to get done as it is (having to carry extra weight on my shoulders, not shutting gates, taking short cuts, not having proper breaks etc etc) on time, many times actually going over by 15-30 mins a day. I did put my foot down for a while and claim 15 mins overtime here and there but most of the time it was not honoured and if I threatened to cut off the hassle and bullying nature of our so called managers (who as far I can can see walk around all day with hands in pockets, drink endless coffee, stand there chatting and are more worried about keeping the office tidy) got so annoying I just got on with it and put up with a sore back and throbbing legs that night.
Well the revised walk has taken the easiest bit off my walk (flat - no steps - about 45mins) and replaced this with loads more steps and hills (probably another 2 hrs at least) ...........what a crock of absolute shite.
What do they think we are ????? donkeys

Well I'll tell you all now - i'll be cutting off everyday if these changes take place - literally leaving my partner at my exact cut off time and going home from there. Everyone should do the same. Lets finally stop being bullied into killing ourselves for these fools who have put us into this posistion in the first place.

i totally agree with you,,, we are in the same position as you,,,, managers are evil, twisted, bullying a-holes,,,, i wonder if they bully their own families like they do posties,,, managers should be ashamed of their bullying antics.......... i really don't know how managers and moya, friends and co,,,, can live with themselves bulling posties into impossible work loads, the union just turn away,,, i feel that posties are just now condemned to slavery....

when our royal mail planners do bother to come to our office

they just sit down on there arse and play on their lap top at the moment they can not
do anything as our reps will not talk to them due to the threats they said early this week.
the managers that may go in london will probley be planning teams as they have not got a clue
what there doing. but then we did know that from the start.

Good stuff . Dig your heels in and if possible detach yourself from all the chaos , if you can do this you might find it all quite entertaining . I can't say I go in every day stress free but the days I find amusing far outnumber my stressful days . Our office managers say we have to prove the duties are impossible to complete but equally they have to prove that it is possible , safe to say once you offer them the opportunity they don't come near . I've heard posties offer wagers , they will give up a weeks wage if a manager can do the duty properly in the time allowed and if the manager can't they have to give up their weekly wage , strangely no office manager will take on the bet . I wouldn't bet but if someone can prove to me it can be done , I would definitly follow them around the duty to see where I'm going wrong .A lot of posties at our office have given up the fight and have now become nothing less than slaves , working through their brakes and not booking overtime when they go over . .

Sadly the " finish your duty as quickly as possible and at any cost " crew are not on board .

And there ladies and gentlemen we have our problem. If linos and DOMS just had the backbone to deal with these people we would be half way to getting workable revisions.

A perfect example . On Saturday , at a rough guess we had about 50% of park and loopers doing the job properly , there is no way you can complete and some mail went undelivered . Yet park & loopers running around carrying bags and not taking their brakes do get finished and are still aloud to go home early . There is a clear office split developing between posties doing the job right and the posties who still think the job is a free for all , tensions have been rising especially when a cheater is paired with a postie who does the job right , the cheater definitely dislikes working all the hours they are paid for . It's a disgrace that the office managers aren't jumping all over them , were still getting " the cheater finished on that duty yesterday so why can't you " . Until we have everyone singing from the same hymn sheet we don't have an argument with senior management regarding the duties being to big .
When revision version two is introduced in May , if I hear a cheater complain about the duties still being to big I think there could be a murder .

Yes people are a crock of shite if they're taking short-cuts, missing breaks and god knows what else - it's these mindless goons that are making this job s**t and f***ing it up for the rest of us..

Yes they do think we are donkeys, precisely why we should all do the job properly, oh well, the idiots will learn with time... I'll have no sympathy whatsoever for them when they come unstuck (infact I recently laughed when I heard someone had injured themselves in the course of their duty - a known runner!).

Very soon only the young and/or very fit will be capable of doing this job and I doubt they'll last too long having to run around 3-4 hours a day 5 days a week.

Our planner has generally listened to us. However we're doing the revised walks at the moment, one of them is far longer than the others and we all said this before the trial. It was blatantly obvious it was too long.

Funnily enough that walk is failing miserably, and he just says 'I can't get my head around why the others are working and this one isn't'. He says that because his computer tells him they're all the same length. It was hilarious last week when the guys doing that walk and the paired walk brought the other one back - all of it.

To be fair though our revision is going to work once it's tweaked a little. That and the fact the original 4.5hr revised walks went in the bin and were replaced with 3.5hr ones

Yes but your missing the point cause the 3 walks being trialled are 4.5 hrs !!!!!and 2 of them arnt and 1 is over 4,5 hrs but we are just lieing cause we love being out while 3.05!!!
