Hi there,
is it true that the CWU are not in agreement with Royal Mail over the prep rates ?
Basically, I do my job properly and because I have cut off on a few occasions they have counted my walk on a couple of days and concluded that my rate was 11.
How they came to that I just do not know as I know that I would be one of the quickest in work as I used to bunce every day and had to be very quick.
Now I have seen the light as it were and work to my 318 I believe I am being bullied by management.
I have this week put in a grievance against the DOM as she refused me my leave I was owed to be with my wife after her 'OP' and a few days later she was counting my mail because we came off the IPS at 8.30 and I went straight to break as that's what the 318 says.
She just has it in for me and the 2 days she counted my mail I actually completed anyway as I normally do.
I cut off yesterday as we had 6 D2D's and we were off the IPS at 8.30 again. I again went for my break with my colleague who actually cut off also.
So I was called up today and told that my rate was too slow. Not counted yesterday mind, but the 2 days I completed.
I know I am not slow, and there's only 3 of us to really compare with as everybody else in in way before their start time.
I passed my 1 minute test, but surely the union would argue that there are too many variables which would slow you down.
Let's face it, how many letters, D2D's etc could any of us really be expected to do over the 1 hour and 15 mins we usually get?
Is the Union in disagreement over the measuring of prep rates?

Last week I was prep tested on my walk
Got told when i went into work last friday, because i keep cutting off,
Managers x2 counted all the mail then put it into boxes and took them to my frame, I wrote this down on the self prep test sheet.
My prep came out quite low 7.9 but my frame is all over the place, my lino said they would test me all next week as well, I replied you would have to bring it to my home as I am not in
On sat was pulled into the office and told i was low. I just replied what happens next, Area rep had been informed as well as I was not happy in the way the test was conducted,
This week my floater is on it and he said the frame was all over the place, sometimes the sequenced goes backwards
in other words instead of throwing off left to write it is the other way round,
Not back for another 6 days,
22yrs and you are treated like S**T
I will still cut off, if it needs as I said to dim I do the job properly and don't want to do O/T

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What I meant was that when we used to have 2 deliveries I used to do do lots of overtime and used to throw off both walks usually before half the office had gone out on the first delivery.
Admittedly I was in a bit early, but the fact is you know whether you are really slow or not.
As it happens we had a guy at our office testing us last year and just about everybody passed that test. Unless you were very slow doing that test it would stand to reason that most people would be around the same rate as each other if they were properly tested over the full prep, unless they were somebody who were used to taking it easy.
RM are clearly targeting people who cut off as they generally have to go out and do it themselves. They would rather blame a good worker than bad management as the reason I end up cutting off is that we are kept on the sorting for so long.
We were told by our DOM a while a go that if you did have your break we would be off the sorting in such good time so that you would at least have had time to throw everything off before you went up. We often have to go straight up to break after coming off the sorting.
When we were going through the revision they made sure nights were on and the sorting was flooded with people and now we are back to no nights and hardly anybody on the sorting.
They just won't except that it is their fault. They want to bully you into either going over your time, not taking breaks etc or leaving.
