Pay protection has been stopped?

Pay protection has been stopped?

in wtl on tuesday, we were told that pay protection was being stopped from this week, this even being when we are all in possession of a letter from specialist pay team stating it would be paid 05/04/08. is this legal, can they just stop it ? for
some poeple it ranges from £12 > £68 a week. The union rep tried to put in a inprincipal disagreement but it was refused. Could anyone advise of any action we could be taking :so there :so there

On an individual basis every one of you should take out a grievance on the basis that RM are breaking a written contract.

Collectively if RM have refused your reps disagreement then this means they have taken Executive action. This gives your office the automatic right to ask for an industrial action ballot! Get hold of your area rep and get the ballot request in. That will shake them up :Very Happy

don't see how they can withdraw your pay protection as it is part of the mtsf(managing the surplus framework) document which was agreed between royal mail and the cwu.
i would suggest you ask the manager where in the agreement it say your pay protection can be withdrawn.

Managers are making things up as they go along. Get your reps involved. Check out the MTSF. It's a big doc so it might take some reading.

seems like they're pushing for an unofficial walkout it many offices at the moment . . . I've not heard any reasonable arguments as to why we shouldn't oblige them . . . . . if they're breaking signed agreements why are we not walking ?

Pay Protect is where ie: you have a duty on say the night shift and after a while RM get rid of the job and offer you a transfer to another shift. It is not your fault the duty ended, so you are entitled to have your pay protected (generally for three years).
