Pressurising staff
We are going into our changes in my office on Monday 4th April so the manager tells us this week what we have to do first thing on Monday. Up to last week we started at 6 am and got the first half hour to put our door to doors together apparently that has disappeared now and its in our workload.
Workload from Monday 4th April.Start 6.30 am straight on to throw your walk off and another walk as well then break 40 minutes at 8 20, due out of the office at 10 am (Mon Tues) 10 30am (Wed/Thur/Fri.Sat) we have been told the other walk we throw off must be completed with door to doors put together, bulky bags done, redirections done and killing off.
Not a chance what so ever, where does he think we are going to get the time from. Some of the lads are going to do exact what he wants then when it comes to time leaving the office they say to the manager we wont finish in time up to you now son…
Then managers tell us today “the money (£800) we get for the changes will take four weeks, BULLSHIT! That because if the plan fails its back to square one with not a tap…
The manager is piss weak and is scared of one particular postie who gets his own way all the time..
The manager is pressurising some people and letting others away with blue murder, I cant wait for Monday to see it all go sour.

Re: Pressurising staff
ours are due to start in may, we have had lots of new starters on 12wk rolling PT.
more starting next week and we havnt got work for the ones we have now, however they are been put on different duties everyday with support from the reg postie so i assume they will be clearing any mess left by us.
unless they plan on getting shut of the "militant" crowd

Re: Pressurising staff
It's £600 on deployment and £200 six weeks later if it's succesful!
That's your £800, £600 up front, the day you start.

Re: Pressurising staff
According to the agreement it £200, no more than six weeks later (at time of PIR).......doesn't say anything about it being "successful"Old Trafford Lad wrote:if it's succesful!AnotherLimey wrote:It's £600 on deployment and £200 six weeks later if it's succesful!

If you start at 6.30 every day that's a 39.5 hour weekOld Trafford Lad wrote:2pm Monday & Tuesday, 2.30pm Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat.gb93 wrote:Will ignore the break thing for now (sure plenty of comments will come)

If you have 10 mins travel time each way thats a 3 hour 40 min del span
On that basis it sounds quite reasonable, without knowing size of walks.
If your point was you are not getting enough indoor time, seems you are getting quite a bit to the detriment of outdoor time.
That is if you are doing park & loop.

Re: Pressurising staff
2hrs 50mins to prep two shifts and pull one out is not unreasonable on an average day with a decent level of Walksequenced Mail and an IPS that is running to plan.
Of course if any of these things change you will struggle.

You cannot be forced to take a break after only 2 to 2.5 hours of work. You need your break midway through your shift, or as I do even later at a point when it suits me.

Re: Pressurising staff
Two walks with 4 or 5 lots of door to doors there is your 50 minutes gone that leaves 2 hours with numerous killing off and redirections. I'm not killing myself throwing two walks off when other lads has it nice and cushy on the IPS.fishtank wrote:2hrs 50mins to prep two shifts and pull one out is not unreasonable on an average day with a decent level of Walksequenced Mail and an IPS that is running to plan.

How big are the walks?Old Trafford Lad wrote: Two walks with 4 or 5 lots of door to doors there is your 50 minutes gone that leaves 2 hours with numerous killing off and redirections. I'm not killing myself throwing two walks off when other lads has it nice and cushy on the IPS.
None of the guys who double prep in our office kill themselves.
If they are struggling with the prep on a busy day they flag it up to management and it gets dealt with.
If you stand your ground and show management that it will impact on what you can deliver they will deal with it rather than have a delivery issue.
If not you just prep away and cut off if necessary.

Re: Pressurising staff
I asked this question sometime ago but they have forced it in our office. We take our break at 8 20 till 9 am, tell ya what yeah! its a long time to go without a break then till 2 30pm when I finish. I am worried on the very hot days (if they come) when we can take a break or stop for a bottle of water, so much for Royal Mail worrying about our health.Lincox wrote:You cannot be forced to take a break after only 2 to 2.5 hours of work. I would like you to show me where you seen this >>You cannot be forced to take a break after only 2 to 2.5 hours of work.
