Dodgy PDAs

All the PDAs in our office stopped working today, something wrong with the network apparently. Did this happen to anyone else?

Network problems we were told , all boxes scanned as ADHOC. Noticed all info downloaded about 13.30

It's because they love to update the system on a Saturday because they think we don't work on a Saturday

Mine didn't load the boxes so didn't scan any. Then, while driving back in it decided, around 12pm to suddenly work so have done each point as "scanner or barcode failure"

they started coming online around 11am

I rang I.T at 0800 hours and all PDAs and LDT systems were down.It was a nationwide problem.Our LDTs were up and running again about 1145 but the PDAs were still down in our DO

PDA's seemed fine at my D.O but the scanner gun wouldnt download the Special Delivery data from the barcodes untill quite late in the morning.

so the pda fails again, well now i always carry the old signing on cards and put the barcodes on
for the registered and recordeds the tracked items just put the barcode number on.
the managers and p h g,s dont like this but there is noway i will go back to the office due to a fault
on the pda system.
walking staff still use pen and paper for there records and registered items so why use the pda.

but everyone in the courier paper says there so much better to use. -ankers !!

It was great that I couldn't scan the boxes......no need to hang around waiting 'til 12!!!

why would you do that?? All it takes is some manager to put a test letter in the box at 11.59 and they would sack you over it. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies

Why wouldn't you scan the boxes? Just because the network is down it doesn't mean you can't use the PDA. Items can be scanned and signed for as normal and boxes scanned on ad-hoc. It will all upload once the system comes back up, no need to go back to delivery cards or fail your collections.

Or some punter who likes a fuss to roll up at 11.55 with a letter and see you pissing off into the distance.
