.....does it still exist in your office? I need to know so I have some ammunition against my DOM when I query why some of my full-time colleagues were able to finish up to FOUR hours early today. This is not an unusual occurence either, it happens nearly every day , but not usually for four hours.

As a part-timer who has to work ALL his paid hours I am getting extremely pi$$ed off when they swan off home whilst I still have hours to work. It is grossly unfair. Surely with Royal Mail in supposed dire financial straits no manager should be allowing this to happen when there is still work to be done in the office. Would a manger be failing in his responsibilities if he knowingly allowed this to happen?

Does anyone know the names and seniority of the management structure in the PE area? I may need these if I get no joy from my DOM. You can reply by PM for anonymity.

As long as you're not going over your time what does it matter what others do?

Also, do they come in early; skip meal breaks; use a car; mince around; etc?

Job and finish doesn't exist in any office, it ceased to exist with the P&M agreement. If people are coming back early then the DOM can add more delivery points to them people's duties.

Yes it does pal. I'm on a 36 hour contract and cover 40 hour duties. If I finish before my time, I lose the 48 mins ot and just get 7.12 mins. Takes the piss when full timers are heading off home 3 hours before you. I just make sure I get paid for 8 hours a day, but when it comes to saturday and I have a chance of finishing a few hours early, then I just accept that I will lose 48 mins. Rather spend the time playing with my kids.

We do job and knock always have for the past 13 years!
Over time is still paid even if its done within our working hours!

These people have probably sweated buckets over the years to get better rounds and no doubt they work flat out when they are there. How long have you worked for RM? Not long I bet and so you bitch and moan at how hard your life is compared to others. Perhaps if you stopped wasting so much time crying about how easy everyone else has it you would get done a bit quicker?

I find FOUR hours hard to believe. For example, if they work 6-2pm, if they havent taken a break the finish time would be 13.20pm.

So your telling me all these people finished at 9.20am!?? If they are doing a 3.5hr delivery round, this means that they must have been out on delivery at 5.50am, TEN MINUTES before they even turned up!!

If you want to be taken seriously, please do not stretch the truth......

Four hours early TODAY? We had an absolute shocker in our office! Worst Monday we could ever remember! Polling cards, large skymags, Gooutdoors books, 5 door to doors, some with those feckin pens in! Lapsing. We didn,t get off IPS until 8.45. Horrendous day all round!

all thoses whingers..one word JEALOUS..i am long term postie and get my round done early everyday thru hard graft and the boss appreciates it and lets us go home.. stop moaning about your lot as one day you will be in a good position too!
let them enjoy it , they are entitled to it after long service

I feel for you pal,I have just gone back to full time after 4 years on 30 hours,You work alot harder as a part timer thats for sure.

2 hours per day extra i now work(On paper),I spend 1 hour prepping rounds and then the Ips is usually finished,Maybe takes 1 hour 30,So i get an extra hour or half hour on my frame than a part timer every day,I get an extra 10 minss meal break now,Extra delivery suppliment,So much easier being full time,How pathetic is that ?

Fekall equal about the place,I have been here 16 years but why when all jobs should be the same why should i be getting a cushy life? Long service should entitle you to pick what round you have,Not entitle you to work alot less than others doing the same fecking job,Im alright jack attitude is rife in the place.

I would happily work 8 hours per day,But the way the workplans have turned out im working alot less,Today for example 6.30am start,I was on my way home at 11.45am,Work that one out,Tomorrow is the lightest day of the week too,So will be working even less.

May not be the same everywhere,But i suspect it happens in the majority of offices,Sad thing is the union bloke will usually be full time,So will never equal the workload as is should be,Part time = s**t on.

Try putting yourself in my shoes then see how you like it. Why do you assume they have long service, not that it is relevant.
Are you suggesting I don't work hard? I work harder than those full-timers and longer but earn less. And I'm not a newbie - 13 years service so bang goes that theory.

If everyone was treated equally and fairly in this job then maybe Royal Mail wouldn't be in the state it is. Everybody should get paid for the hours they actually work.
