Feels to me like the CWU's main activities have to do with trying to dig it's heels in so we don't get pushed backward. Why isn't it pro-ative in trying to actually take us forward?

Sure it's worth belonging to if you fall off your bike or get bit in the a"r%e by a dog but what about job security?

Too late for "damage limitation", such is the sorry state of a postal worker's status.
What's needed, is a CWU that finally admits it cannot be all things to all men, and swears to fight to get back, what it so easily, and lamentably, gave away on a plate to dishonest senior executives.

Can't do that if we're all singing from different hymn sheets- seems the problem is that R.M have spent so long implementing devide and rule tactics that we really have become a bunch of disgruntled individuals rather than a cohesive and powerful force that any management would be nervous about dealing with, which is what we should be. (Bob Crow is only a human being you know)

Seems to me though that when you talk to most people about our predicament, most of us seem to be in agreement about a lot of the s&it that befalls us. It's just that so many of us have a defeatest attitude - the rhetoric at my office is sooo, soooo negative and if you try and stand up against anything you find yourself out on your own - I know, I've already been singled out as having my head way above the parapit and in the 'firing' line.

There must be a simple solution to creating a tipping point somewhere.

Surely if enough of us got together on here though we could make something happen!

fair point and that is why CWU HQ will be reluctant to ballot.
the only thing that would bring us together would be for RM to continue ignoring "our" bits of the BT2010 and start cutting pay on top of that.

not out of the equasion IMO but it would have to be along that theme to gain national support.

Man a, "Run up that hill." Man b, " I can't do that." Man a, "Run up that hill." the same Man b, "O.k I will." Both answers are true. What I'm talking about is self belief. I don't claim to be a clever tactition or great strategist - I'm looking at the big picture.

If we can all agree on the fundamentals i.e. that we need to reclaim that which has been lost. Then I think we have a chance of making changes.

As I said in my opening - CWU is all about trying to keep from being pushed backward, it should be about pushing forward.

So, 360 odd views and no-one is interested -no wonder the union is weak.

A union is only as strong as its members. We all know that so why don't we do something about it?!

WE AS A UNION VOTED FOR THE 2010 AGREEMENT! ( I say we but i wasnt here for the vote but thats not the point!)

As soon as we all except that we accepted the 2010 agreement through a democratic vote then we can move forward together. It doesnt matter who voted no and who didnt vote at all i think the only way forward is to draw a line under the silly finger pointing and stand together again. How can we fight the Royal Mail monster when we are all fighting each other? I am not saying we wernt screwed in as* but if we all dont start pulling together soon then its going to get a lot worse in the future! Look at what has happened recently with the shares and compulsory redundancies for example. If RM get away with blatant attacks on its work force where do you think the axe will fall next time they have to find some savings?

There's the rub George. Solidarity seems to be a thing of the past and actually it's the only basis from which we can put up a fight.
RM are very clever at devide and rule, especially since they have divided the workforce between full and part-timers.
