advice please

Hi, dont often post on here but something has come to my attention at my office and could do with some opinions/advice...

here goes....

ive just been given a 30hr contract (previously 24) and also my own walk. This walk has just had around an hour (on a good day) added to it as we have just had a "mini-revision" and "the computer" says it isnt long enough.....

i have done this walk in the past (as a reserve and before drops were added) and yes it is easy... but not sure about an hour easier??.

ive spoke to my gaffer about this and all he comes back with is... "well if you cant do it, then i have someone who said he can"......

can he use "this tactic" against me (he knows im after a bit of stability and more hrs, i feel as if he is using this against me, thinking that i will keep my gob shut and just get on with it to keep the walk) or does he have to listen to my views and maybe "prep test me" and even come out on delivery and see for himself?... trust me, im pretty good at my job and if i say it cant be done... then it cant (sorry, dont mean to sound big headed.. )....

Is it your walk, have you signed for it after it had been advertised to whole office.

Personally I'd take the 30 hr contract it'll be 6 extra hrs on your Hols, Sick, Pension, Pro-Rata etc.
Make sure it's in writing and you're happy with the "small print" check it with your Rep if necessary.

Screw your DIM and his opinions. Do the job PROPERLY if you're happy to do a bit of OT, and the DIMs happy to pay it, quids in. If you don't want the OT.. I refer you to many previous posts on this site concerning how to cut-off etc.

IMHO the important factor is you've got a bit more of that stability you're looking for. Kid him along if necessary but once you've got the contract sod him.

Once he's given you it he can't take it away (unless it's 6 months trial or some such BS=check small print) Good Luck Mate.

They've done prep and walk testing in our office in the past. To be honest, though, the only time I've ever seen a prep test done was after someone decided to stick up for themselves on some matter - it was *definitely* a matter of sour grapes and bullying on the part of the DOM (NOT our current DOM, I must add). But they've done walk testing in the past as well, essentially where a manager has gone out in his car and parked at strategic points on the delivery. An easy day for them, sitting in the car drinking cans of Coke and smoking fags. If you're 100% confident on your timing etc then that would be the best way to go, I would imagine. If your manager knows you're in the right he'll probably be reluctant to do it, mind.
