Delivery office manager

Hi I'm currently an undergraduate studying at the university.

I was looking at some options to apply for next october when I'm going to start applying for jobs.

One of the things I was looking into was applying for the royal graduate operations scheme.

They said a typical placement you would take on this scheme could be the role of a delivery office manager.

To help me decide better whether it's worth applying for could you tell me what this sort of role would involve?

Bullying and harassing postmen into working for nothing is in the job description. You also need to not have done the job before and accept that if a piece of paper say's a postman can walk at 10 mph and deliver 1000 house's an hour it is true and your managers arent lying to you.

Delivery Office Manager's are expected to have as much medical knowledge, often more, than a qualified Doctor.

Being an A1 asssshole seems to be a major requirement for the role. Being ready, willing, and very able, to shaft/stitch-up your workforce, is an asset prized above all else, even at the expense of good old-fashioned common sense.

Must be able to sit through a 2hr conference call throwing in the occasional "yes sir" and "no sir" and "of course you're right sir...i am a useless s**t"...and then step out onto the floor and take out your inadequacies on your staff because you didn't have the balls to stand up to your boss.

Prior to Christmas our Delivery Office Manager brought in a revision (change of all the duties in the office) That was obvious to everyone would not work, because thats what his bosses demanded of him.
It didn't work, so even though he done what his bosses asked they blame him, He is now supposed to blame us.

Welcome to Royal Mail...decesions are made at the top blame gets passed to the bottom.
If you enjoy kow towing to those above you and steping on those below you then apply.

Most RM managers got were they are on the Peter principle and are stuck were they are, we did have a graduate start as manager around a year ago, he left a couple of weeks ago now.
