I've seen a few TNT DSA envelopes marked 'Speedsure' with a 13 digit tracking number, VB ---- ---- 1GB.
Strangely though different envelopes to different addresses have identical tracking numbers
Are they meant to be scanned on delivery and does anyone know any more about them ?

No its a Visa marketting gimmic.

Thanks. Yes, it was from Visa and their identical 'tracking numbers' made me suspicious that it might be something like a marketting gimmic, making it look more important than it is.
Readers Digest and many others have used bar codes etc. in such a way for a long time but surely none previously the recognised international 13 digit LL NNNN NNNN NGB type number.
Were I running the company I'd surcharge all these type of things - if they want people to think that the item is tracked they can pay a tracked rate to post it or quit pretending. Same as Mailsort items claiming to be urgent. Were it urgent Mailsort would be one of the last choices I'd make!
I agree.
I've even seen "Special Delivery", words which Royal Mail presumably hasn't trade marked, printed on Mailsort 3 junk mail.
The blue crayon through the 'Speedsure' tracking number from now on I think.
I refer to it as "bullshit " mail.
Surely all these envelopes with pretensions of grandeur, carrying such words as approved, important, selected and particularly the dreaded WINNER should be regarded in the same light as the scam mail that has recently recieved such publicity.
Also you could include two trade publications which we are very familiar with in our business that have moved so close together in view and content that I expect a merger announcement soon. It will be called Voice of the Courier and will be ignored just like our voices are .
