a fellow postie who was on medication was recently sacked for a security breach, she left the van door open with keys in the ignition.
She was given the van for a town walk (set up by management). The IB pulled in behind her just as she got back to the van on a long strecth of road, she was away from the van for approximately 15 seconds and had checked both ways first and no'one was about so felt ok to leave the van open (medication she is on causes poor judement choices)

Anyway she got sacked and lost her appeal , she was taking it to an industrial tribunrel but cannot afford it as the cwu wont take the case on and she could be liable for the approx £10000 costs if she loses.


What she wants to know is, is there an onbudsman that works for RM that she could write to in order to try and get her job back.

The IB are a complete joke....they couldnt solve the beano crossword.
Makes them look they are doing something proactive when they stalk unsuspecting hard working people.Your "friend" is better out of it tbh,the company is a joke.

Sorry to hear that, but a driver in my office done something similar and got sacked 1st offence. Not even a stage 1 ever or conduct to his name. Dim sent it higher due to the seriousness of it( more like couldn't be arsed) he had interview with area and was instantly dismissed. Union not interested either.

she asked for a van for 2 weeks but was told no, then they offered her one.
well and truely set up is this what happens when you stand up to them.

There is no charge for making a claim to an Employment Tribunal. So unless you are paying a representative (for example, a solicitor) there is normally no cost in making a claim.

However, the Employment Tribunal can order you to pay costs (known as expenses in Scotland) if it thinks you or your representative has behaved 'unreasonably' during the case.

There was a chap who had a van stolen with the keys in, got sacked, then re-instated because the "correct procedure" wasn't followed (They allowed him to drive before the suspension and sacking at another DO/Mail centre) So if RM haven't done all the Driving tests/checks. It may be worth a look in that direct, Driver training etc!!!

not really set up,I wouldnt leave my car with keys in the ignition. why do it with an RM van?

why is she driving then? what sort of meds is it?
if its giving this type of side effect then i bet it states no driving
