Day off / Lieu day query ......

Applied for a lieu day back in January to have this coming Saturday off which was promptly refused as usual, explained that it was for a family wedding and I had to have the day off, no way could I not attend the wedding!
Anyway I was told they would look at staffing and try to sort something.
2 months later and despite constant weekly reminders about it they still haven't provided a definite answer on whether I can take it as a lieu day or not! The best they can come up with is today manager came to me at 9.45am and said I worked my day off tomorrow they would switch my day off to Saturday. This to me is too short notice as I already have made plans for tomorrow. Can they ask you swap days off at less than 24 hrs notice or should I just dig my heels in and say I won't be in on sat no matter what??!

it is a day in lieu so he should be entitled to it and his day off also. I have come up against the same thing. every time, the manager keeps saying he forgot. well its my mums 90th on Saturday for which i applied weeks ago. So I will not be in.

after all those who get the public holidays off and their weekday off do not turn around and say they will make do with their public holiday and forego their day off that week do they?

No i'm not being akwkard at all, i applied for it over 2 months ago, ample time for them to come up with a solution.
then they ask me at 9.45 TODAY if i can work my day off TOMORROW which I have already made plans for.

I have 3 days leave left to take for 2010/2011 but they say it can't be done. Also, this was the SIXTH lieu day application in a row that i have had knocked back.

I have worked for RM for over 15 yrs and the ridiculous annual leave situation makes me just wanna throw the towel in. Everyone i speak to in other jobs cannot believe what we have to go through to get a day off!

Please revo a friendly warning, dont rise to the bait. You gave them the reaction they wanted and its causing me a load of work in the background. The rules do say dont use abusive langauge towards members so I would be obliged if you would ignore people who you think are trolls.
