Are you saying that they are renewing your contract or asking you to sign for a different duty.

I only ask because I see no reason why moving from reserve to float duty would trigger a new contract. If it did then I'd certainly refuse to move unless the contract was made permanent as per your current situation.

Being a floater is slightly better than being a reserve. Tough at first but you will get used to doing the same walks after a while. Got to be better than being pull from pillar to post on new walks every day isn't it? You will also know when your day off is coming in advance unlike now when you don't know what day you have off from one week to the next.

I can't see why this would affect your contract unless they want to change your hours?

I'd say it was a very small step up the ladder!

Something about that doesn't read right. I think you've done it backwards because there's no 'long weekend' in there:

Agree. totally. And that is why I cannot believe that in my office we have fixed days off. Of course mine is a Tuesday.

Our Union Rep is no tinterested as far as I can make out.

For a lot of mbrs Saturday off thats not part of a Monday to Friday working week is of no interest to them. Attendance patterns caused a big load of hassle and some almighty hissy fits when some proposals were worked up and presented to the mbrs.

Im a rep and I have every Monday off since switching back to FT duty and hours and it comes with a duty that is not popular when it comes to office repicks/advertising of vacant duties.
