Hi all,
I know we had several days off over the Xmas / New year that were officially 'NON WORKING DAYS' not Bank Holidays. which meant if your day off fell on a NON WORKING day you couldn't claim a day in lew. That bit I understand, I lost out on xmas day.
Each year I buy extra leave, up to the 6 weeks (30 days). As I had the week commencing 3rd Jan off, one of these 30 days this year fell on 3rd Jan.
Does anyone know where I stand on this. My manager says NON WORKING day, therefore I can't claim a day in lew. But surely as I've paid to have 30 days off (that I would normally be expected to work), not allowing me a day in lew for 3rd Jan means I'm only getting 29 days.
I'm also thinking that 1st Jan, was the Non Working day, 3rd Jan was the Bank Holiday.
Does anyone have a definate answer on this please. To too tired to argue

Sat 1st Jan will be a non-service day,it IS NOT a bank holiday /if it's your rest day you do not get it back.
Mon 3rd Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your rest day you will get it back.

I'll have another word with my manager, he told me that he'd asked 5 other people before telling me that I couldn't have another day. But I now have the evidence I need to prove him wrong.

if its a bank holiday the dim should have put on the sheet that you have had 4 days off only that week

Now that I know 3rd Jan was a Bank Holiday, I can fight my corner, as I know I'm in the right.
If Monday 3rd had been a non service day, does anyone know how I would have stood then. On the basis, that I had purchased a days leave, on what was not a working day anyway. (if that makes sense)
