Handed in driving duties today - Dom says I can't?

Wrote a letter to Dom informing him that I'm giving 4 weeks notice to resign from driving duties. I have my own bike job but keep getting moved to rurals. Now my Dom says as I've had the changeover I can't do this.

I responded by saying I haven't presented my licence for two years. Other people choose not to drive so why should I?

My contract isn't postman/driver btw.

Any tips ? After a month I will not drive a rm van agAin as far as I'm concerned.

I think that you're meant to show your drivers liscence every 6 months for royal mails insurance reasons or something so if you've not handed it in for 2 years if you had an accident would you and royal mail be covered. Also its not like you've signed for a duty that involves driving? Could always say yo've had your liscence taken away ;-)

I was asked today to bring in my license,we have not been told about it being done electronically.
Is this a national thing or just local option.

They can check them with the DVLA but it costs money, so RM will expect us to bring ours in

thought it was national to be honest, been a few years now, you sign so that they are allowed to check with DVLA, data protection and all that

Job done toenail,you haven't shown your licence end of.
Your managers could get seriously busted for this..........if it happens to get flagged up the road.

And yes you have to physically bring the licence in.And you have to sign a declaration about any driving jobs outside RM.

I didnt bother with my DL last time, but I still usea van now and again usually for a brief trip out somewhere. If wasnt legit to driver as in law of the land I wouldnt do it. The issue is one for local managers as they are taking a gamble which might backfire on them. I imagine anyone holding a driving duty who does not bring in a DL would be removed from it.
