Not got long to go until I leave so they would get the effort that is in keeping with the wages.

why do people on here automatically think there contract is going to change under privatisation.some people are already talking themselves into getting the minminum wage.having been in royal mail a long time, what we always wanted was a better basic and less overtime.
ok that doesn`t help the parttimers, but that`s not the fault of full time staff that they have 25 hr or 30 hour contracts it`s only going to cause resntnment in a office.that`s down to royal mail trying to save pennies and hours on the cheap.

TUPE - Transfer of Undertakings, Protection of Employees - will mean we wouldn't be down to a minimum wage immediately.

Re: Privatisation/new contract
i think our contracts would continue as is, only new starts would have different ones. Is that not what happened at BT? I'm sure are contracts have some legal binding with a take over, if you were going to buy RM and put all the staff on min wage and 75% left who would deliver the mail, i know they could all be replaced but that takes time, in the meantime the company you just spent millions on loses millions by the day. Come on lads IF it happens i don't think it will be as bad as your all thinking.
Think positive!!

T.U.P.E. can be usurped under various measures, economics being one.
Exactly which private company do you think would be happy to continue to subsidise former PHG's for doing nothing.
C.W.U. failed us again, pay and conditions will be tackled by any incoming employer, the above is the perfect excuse to apply to the Tory government for measures to usurp T.U.P.E.
my two pence worth.

Would EVR be available in a privatised, minimum wage company?...and even if it was what would the terms be?.barbario wrote:I am shortly going to be fifty,so would wait until fifty five and take EVR.
The words "statutory minimum" spring to mind.

Re: Privatisation/new contract
A new company only needs to keep the current contract for 1 year. I think. Your right their ain't any jobs at the moment. Lets don't forget the wonderful pension we will get when we retire in 20+ years.

Surely any significant wage cut would trigger strong(ish) reaction from the CWU? I would guess that all the perm staff would probably escape any significant wage cuts. But all the staff on temporary contracts? Maybe thats a reason why so many staff are not being given perm contracts now days? Would be very easy to change them!

Any attack would most likely start on allowances and pay protection.George door to dawes wrote:Surely any significant wage cut would trigger strong(ish) reaction from the CWU? MTSF is very costly to the business...it is already under attack.
