Managers checking bag drops.

Apparently the managers have been out today at my DO checking bag drops and looking in bags checking to see if you have what you say you have to deliver. Also thay have been stopping posties during delivery and checking what mail they have with them and asking how long til last letter, etc. They havent hassled me yet. Its so nice to be trusted.

Aslo nothing at all to do with it being Spring soon and the weather will generally be mild - Of course there will be no hiatus for the heat of Summer or during the cold of Winter.

Are you sure its not IB? They did our office about September? last year. Were wandering around our delivery area asking posties for their ID, where there SD where looking in bags etc. Reported back to the DOM anyone who was O.K and who were not up to scratch.

What if you have something personal/private like a medicine in your bag. What business is it of theirs?

its part of your job
if its personal then keep it in your pockets

mind you mentioning that
when i have the storm jacket on in wet weather. i keep SD letters etc in the front pocket to keep them dry

Beat them at their own game and tell them that they are not allowed to look in your bags as it's a security risk, ask em for ID and that you can report them if they dont have it

Sadly.it is part of their job,and they have to undertake it so often! Annoying for most, but if you.ve nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, but usually, they will only come out
en-masse for three reasons--either there is mail going missing-- or it's another big--'we'll keep them on their toes' bullying' excercise--or they have to fill in their 'I've done it' forms!!
Butm the way things are just now, it's probably a bullying run!

This is what I dont really understand.
If I go in to work in the morning, they can ask to check my pouch. But if I wanted to bring in some missorts from the previous day I could hide them in a different bag which they couldn't check. Or I could hide them on my person and they couldn't check.
So if you are out on delivery and you keep your SDs in your Stormproof, wouldn't your coat be part of your "work station" and as such be searchable but if you wore a jacket that wasn't RM issue, they couldn't?
Load of shite either way.

I've said that before about bag checks. TBH its more likely to catch someone who missed a letter by accident than someone sneaking mail in.
however what can they do? not do any checks or do what they can?

They've told us we can't bring our bags in and leave them under, on, by or near the frame. If they don't trust us with the mail then why did they employ us as postmen? If I wanted to steal mail why would I do it off the frame in the morning when I'm alone with it all day?

Say two guys walk into a D.O. in the morning...one has 2 letters in the bottom of his bag he forgot to pouch off...the other has a box of D2D he took home to prep.
What happens next?
