Is it possible?

I would be interested in polite comments on the following. ie. are my timings reasonable and if they are is it possible to do the job on a 5 day 20hr contract?

Contract = 4hrs (less 20 min break) = 3hrs 40mins

Re-directs, dead letters, pick up, bag up and collect specials: 20mins = 3hrs 20mins

Load van and get to drop off point dropping bags off on route: 15mins = 3hrs 5mins

On return to office, drop off items collected from 2 postboxes,
undelivered packets and specials etc and prep the next
days D2Ds: 20mins =2hrs 45mins

Which means I have 2hrs 45 minutes to complete my 7.5 mile round and walk the 1 mile back
to the delivery office.

This, of course, assumes that my frame is fully prepped for 0900. This is rarely the case and usually I have to help finish collecting packets and mail from the IPS.

A 4hr a day contract 'should' walk into the office,pick a bag up and away you then go.
You shouldn't be doing none of the s**t you posted,if you have to do all that and you only want to work your 3hrs 40mins then have fun.

pretty much, except i use car,, and never go back to the depot after,, also my d2d are usually prepped by full timers

Just because you are on a 4 hr a day contract doesn't mean you are expected to do the duty in that time. The hours you work and the hours on your contract are two separate things. Look at the walk log. It should give you a break down of how long each thing is meant to take. An example is the walk I did Friday. The whole duty takes 6 hours. I'm on a 25 hr contract, therefore I claim one hour overtime every time I do that duty on a Friday (unless it takes longer in which case I claim more).

This is my last week of my three month contract, I have been offered a job in another DO with the same 20hrs but over 3 days. I am going to take it and give the figures I quoted above to my manager to explain why I have decided to leave.
The rep says I should be able to do the walk easily "I used to do it in a couple of hours" - no doubt before they added 3 more sections to the walk! Most of my colleagues say its easy and not as hard as their walks! This seems to be the standard answer from most posties? A few, in private, have told me that the walk should be a ft and not a part timers.

I raised this issue in another post..... the replies I got indicated that D2Ds are 'live mail' and means they should be prepped by the FT guy prepping my round. My line manager agreed with this view but apparently my Dom said that D2Ds only become 'live mail' after they are put in the frame and therefore my responsibility to do after my walk!
