overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
I am currently going through the new delivery pattern with the van share e.t.c
For us it is not working, everyday we are going over and it is a joke.
But to make matters worse it would appear that since we have started the new delivery routine we have been robbed of our overtime and i am f***ing mad.
I dont particularly want to do the overtime as i have umpteen things that i need to do on my house, but i thought the extra money would come in handy so have gone into this new setup willing to do the extra hours and to try to make it work.It would appear that our office manager has been fiddling the figures and robbing us of our overtime so as to try to make the hours fit into the office system. This is bloody wrong and i have to say i want to wring his neck, speaking to someone else today it would appear that he does this all the time.Surely this is wrong, the bloody job is hard enough i want my money but how can i get my money back that i am owed and how can i get him disiplined for doing this.I pulled out of the union as i feel as a part timer we were all let down but the union should be involved as they helped get us all into this mess.It is in need of sorting.

Fishtank is right iam afraid the only way to stop being robbed is do as little overtime as possible! The managers dont give a monkeys as no one will do anything about them stealing from the stafffishtank wrote:Stop doing the overtime.... sorted.coolasluck wrote:It is in need of sorting.

Have you spoken to the manager and asked him why he is not paying you for the hours you have worked?coolasluck wrote:I am currently going through the new delivery pattern with the van share e.t.c

If he fobs you off then get in contact with your area manager.
If this does not work then tell them you will seek outside help from a private solicitor.
The first half hour consultation is usually free.
Take no shyte from no one, at the end of the day you are just doing your job properly and you are trying to make THEIR UNREALISTIC TARGETS work.
The weak get walked over in this business
good luck.

I dunno, just cannot get my head around this.
The overtime rates in Royal Mail, the shytest I've ever known in my entire working life, some 35 years or so, and postal workers do overtime for this poxy shyte-hole of a company????
I understand some people may be hard-up......but, for fook's sake.....

Re: overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
This happens all the time at my office. The whole systems seems corrupt to me; banking hours, not paying overtime etc. It seems a case of what the DOM can get away with. Sure you can go down the grievance root but then you become a marked man. I'm told that the DOM's bonus suffers the more overtime he pays out. So it becomes a case of them versus us. Not a great model for productive working relationship.coolasluck wrote:I am currently going through the new delivery pattern with the van share e.t.c

Re: overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
I always joke that the DIMs have a Manuel "101 Ways to Rip Your Staff Off" but it's been show on this site that there is a systematic abuse of the pay and entitlement system by Unscrupulous Managers(?)
Do these idiots actually get shown how they can manipulate the system on some DIM training course?
It seems more than just coincidence that so many Posties are reporting similar type abuses of their pay.
Or is it just passed by word of mouth? What do you call a gathering of DIMs? A Thicket!

Yep my DIM is definately corrupt too....fiddles our o/t, denies us paid meal breaks etc etc. Unfortunately ours is a teflon DIM. He runs a tight ship so his manager loves him. So don't even consider making a grievance...you would be as good as history. Surely the union are aware of all these sharp practices. So why do they sit by and allow us all to suffer? Can anybody explain exactly what we pay them for?

Re: overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
This was going on with me since 2006 until I left. My dim would come out with I might consider payment etc. Union waste of time. Ours was Teflon Dom as well. Did put a grievance in about him only to get grief.Sergeant Blast wrote:Yep my DIM is definately corrupt too....fiddles our o/t, denies us paid meal breaks etc etc. Unfortunately ours is a teflon DIM. Re: overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
As has been mentioned previously on many posts Sgt B "we are the union"! There is no easy option, you can get a bit of advice from your Rep but it boils down to everyone in your office. If your DIM is a cock try and get as many people as possible to actually put in a Grievance against him. In the end the s**t has got to stick and something will be done. Even if they just move him sideways.
If you're Pt it's a bit dodgy but try and be forceful and let him know you know what you're entitled to and you want paying for the work you do. Good luck Mate.

Just do the job as per spec, no extending, if there is anything over, leave them in the Office let the DOM do it for a change, if the whole Office does it, there is nothing they can do about it, "united we stand divided we fall" is really true in this case.

That would be great in practice but our office has no union rep and nobody stands together as there are too many that isnt willing too.
Speaking to others in our office it would appear that this is widespread and is happening all the time its a practice that can only be sorted out by the union as if we make a stand and or are p.t then you are going to have problems.I am in the office with him tommorow to sort it out and am taking in my wage slips with me.
If i get ripped off then it will be a case of claiming it back in sick leave. That will be it for me then cut off every day. This is not on and as far as i see it it is a simple case of theft.Union what are we paying you for wake up and sort this national disgraceful behaviour out, grow some spine and a set of balls.
This is why i stopped paying my union fees.

Re: overtime fiddled and postmen cheated.
Similar situation in my office...no union rep...too many spineless 'YES' men. I'm p/t so he can easily squash me. I have fought my corner on occasions but I feel it has probably counted against me. I get overlooked when there is a vacancy with more hours etc. Bottom line is my DOM is an intimidating bully. He has his inner circle of guys who he looks after. The rest he treats like sh1t. Personally, I'm working on an exit plan on my own terms, then it's see ya and good riddance RM.coolasluck wrote:NWpostie wrote:Just do the job as per spec, no extending, if there is anything over, leave them in the Office let the DOM do it for a change, if the whole Office does it, there is nothing they can do about it, "united we stand divided we fall" is really true in this case.
