Official line is 3 months.EDIT:See post below.
You could argue the unreasonable time thing as the screws are probably unaware of the 3 month thing.
If you get the stage, which tbh you probably will 'demand' it's backdated from your last day of sick.
If they refuse then put in a grievance.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Official line is 3 months.
I'm 99% sure that applies to HR and whether it's triggered and passed down to your DOM within a 3 month period but agree with the rest of your post.
Backdated at the very least to the trigger date in early December.

Edit....but the upside is that any sick absence he has had since the trigger date up to the interview stage should be considered in the overall review of this stage and shouldn't count towards the next stage.
Every cloud etc....

Ah the good old stage 1, I triggered a stage 1 after being off with recurrent knee problems.. something I am now off for having had surgery (and assurances it wouldn't trigger further stages)
I'm pretty sure that a stage 1 can be viewed as fairly discretionary by your manager, in that it's not meant to punish the genuinely sick or injured but meant as a kind of wake up call for your habitual lead swinger.. you know the type... always got a bad migraine mainly on saturdays and mondays
Does anyone know if this system applies to managers? Our DOM has had more sick leave over the last year than most of us delivery guys combined.

The interview for any Stage should be in a 'reasonable period'....

Dont think 3 months is in any agreement...

It would be up to the Rep etc to argue the case on its merits...

What is annoying is that your 12 month 'jail sentence' starts on the day you get interviewed, not the date you returned to work so the f***ers have got you all ways!

I'm off Stage 1 and back to clear on the 1st April.

Going straight to my Doc and getting signed off with stress for at least 4 weeks, I'll go for 6, then I'll be back on Stage 1 but who cares, Stage 1 is a pile of s**t anyway!

If you get a decent Rep , he/she can normally argue to get the Stage (if awarded ) dated to the return to work date , especially if the delay in the Stage interview is many weeks....

i am amazed by the lack of knowlege being passd down by reps

a stage warning starts from the cause of action, the day it was recorded and set off by hr.

recording a stage one when you return back to work or on the date the stage was issued is a no, no

if you have a sick note for an acute medical problem and they want to issue a stage warning then put in a grievance

I think most half decent reps will agree that a Stage starts (if awarded) at the interview stage. Most times the return to work date and interview will be no longer than a week or two.
However, most reps will argue at the interview, that the stage should start from the return to work date.

If you think you could do a better job, why dont you stand ?

2 of our lads got off with stage 3's last years because of late stage interviews. If they dont back date it treat it as mitigation on your next stage.
