Hi all, we seem to be well over staffed for the first time i've ever known!
Our Manager has 90% of the p/timers on a 4 day week next week doing only their contract hours, i.e. 5/20/30 etc. He has told us that your hours are not daily allotted but weekly, thus he has a couple on del only one day 3-4hrs then a 8hr duty next day adding upto 30 for week. One guy is coming in to do 3hrs only on one day can he do this!!
Obviously we have too many staff(that's new one) send them other depots!

as far as i know its 28 days notice to change your working hours and im sure there will be a link to the relevant doc posted very soon.

Check this one out. I do not think they can mess your contract about just as they like, as it may well impinge on your work/social lifestyle and if they make you work more days with less hours each day, they are causing you an extra cost in getting to and from work. I would go to disagreement with any major change in contracted hours distribution, unless you are happy with the new arrangements.

I was told you only got notice if you were put on to nights from days, or vice versa.

No one is on sick, 2 on holiday so surplus staff.We have approx 40 staff. it's about 50/50 split pt/ft and of that 20 p/t 12 are affected by this.
Manager says he's not allowed to put them on training as i suggested and nearby depots no need for help.
I just wish that all affected by this could keep it up for a while RM would soon be crying for us as we keep the place running with our OT, but it's hard when your used to the dosh.
I have a 30hr but my average is 38hrs over the year like 75% of our pt's with the other 25% on 5-20hr contracts.
I just feel used and abused, i do the extra when needed, then get shafted like this.
I know what some will say "don't help out then don't do OT" but who pays the bills then.

Same in my Office Beanmuncha. Doesn't help that we had 10 guys on 12 week contracts turn up AFTER Christmas. Get the impression that the DIMs being lent on from above about his Budget. 
After all it's nearly the end of the Financial Year and I suppose that's when they calculate their latest Bonuses!
