Not allowed to claim overtime!!

I am a part timer on a 22.5 contract (10-2.30) and I am getting rather sick of going over my time without any break and not being able to claim for it.
I told my dom that I went over my time twice last week (half an hour twice in a row) and he would not let him claim for it thus losing money. I did finish b4 2.30 but if I had had my break I would deffinately have gone over my time, the other posties think I am within my rights and should claim for anything after 2.10 (because of having no break) but he was giving me all these excuses like him getting grief from his managers above him and that I should be able to complete the round within 4 hours even though the lapsing we now have makes that impossible on a busy day and also comparing me to the others. Where A) the full timers leave much earlier than we do and B) comparing me to another part timer who comes in a fair bit earlier but finishes on time (not getting paid for coming in early) So now he wants to come out with me on my round ''to see what I am doing wrong''.
Just wondering who is in the right?

I told him this is the reason I am finishing late and he pretty well threw it back at me saying I should be able to still do it, plus I have 9 additional delivery points on my round too.

Take meal break,youre entitled to it and theres nothing any manager etc.. can do , work to your time,and cut off if needed, if they want to kick up a fuss about 30ins ot here and there, play them at there own game there attitude will soon change when they are paying someone 2-3 hrs for a cut off bag.SIMPLE NO OT NO WONGA= NO WORK 2010 THE WAY FORWARD.........................................

take your breaks and finish on time. nobody can be expected to work for nothing.

The Manager is quite correct in what they have done, they have refused to pay you overtime because, as you have admitted, you completed your duties before your finish time of 14:30.

It's your own fault, you didn't take your break, you worked for free in exactly the same way as the other part-timer who comes in early. Learn by your mistake and take your meal relief entitlement before leaving or returning to the office.

If you think you are going to need more than your contract to complete your duty, the lapsing and take your entitled paid meal relief, you need to see your section manager before you leave the office!

You then offer which ever option you wish to your line manager:-
You are happy to complete the round claiming pressure overtime.
You want to finish at your contract time having taken your 20 minute meal relief, having left the estimated excess mail in your frame.
You want to finish at your contract time, having had your 20 minute meal relief, bringing back all undelivered mail (having taken everything out with you).

I have to see my lino most days of the week, its a bit of a chore and I'd love to just have a "Mystic Meg" duty finish predicting clock at my frame, but by seeing my lino they can authorise the o/t to me for completion and at the same time this procedure covers my lino's back from their boss.

If anyone in the depot management hierachy challenges your speed of delivering, play them at their own game, ask them to book a walk test and get back to you with a date... Watch them never get back to you on this issue again, as it will show they are expecting too much to be done in a five hour duty if you are delivering correctly and taking your entitled break!
