why are we not all on the same money

i know that you get more money for driving 600 or for a high top van but why do some postman get 6 pound a week driving allowance because under new law anyone who does the same job should be payed the same rate anyone no whats going on

I don't think it's the CWU that's the problem but a very poor management system that takes issues and proceeds to make them even worse.
BTW it's only the walk men that can do OT in my office within their duty time............but that's the reason they now have to do more lapsing and have been told that if they come back early they'll be made to stay until their duty finish time and if that isin't happening at your office then you can only blame the managers.

well dont know were you work but the firms men in our office split a duty on saturdays or do a collection

There are dozens of reasons why all OPGs dont earn the same , shift allowance , RRIS payments , London Weighting Payments , Scotland Distant Island allowance , TPM , ex PBS bonus money to name a few. The one you refer to is a reserved right payment which protected drivers when the way forward came in they contiued to recieve the £6 as driving allowance was ceased. We still have something like 180 different allowances , in fact ex phgs sill recieve a higher sum reserved rights from the way forward.

The CWU would not be very popular if they removed all these payments as thousands would lose out. Oh prior to door to door being in a supplement we had different rates of pay in offices depending on the amount of delivery points , residential to business and the number of contracts.

The whole idea that two OPGs would be on differing earnings due to DTD but with both expected to work the same amount of hours is in my view a idea past its time. Keeping the money within the paybill was good but by sharing it out across ALL D.O duties equally has created winners and loosers.

If new money had been on hand to make the supplement £30 a lot more support might have been gained. No hope of the CWU mbrs in my D.O embracing the supplement at its current rate as a suitable replacement. Given how the number of delivery points can vary from delivery to delivery especially when comparing geographically large rurals with compact urbans with lots of flats the line that was trotted out in defense was how the average amount is this and the average payment is that was simply never gping to command majority support to switch to a £20 quid payment Many mbrs simply do not recognise those figures as being anywhere near thier duty.

Having one wage (Responsibilty and night allowance should continue)for all OPGs in a D.O is a good idea but the manor of acheving that has to be sound and command majority support.

and why is that relevent? Backshift in my office work 10:12 to 18:00 theres no shift payment for that.

Okay they probably never earned much from D2D in the past but they will qualify for the delivery supplement now.
If there mail arrives at irregular times and there is a local agreement covering the completion of duties and maybe even sick cover then i'm sure thats probably merited.
