CRB Check help please.

Hi,

I have completed the online application about 4 weeks ago, completed the interview about 2 weeks ago, got a phone call today asking for my permission to do a CRB check on me. I agreed, i have also declared to him that last year i recieved a simple caution for ABH, i explained that it was due to a domestic upset with a member of my family and explained that the police had no choice but to issue a caution.

Could a 'simple caution' (openly declared before CRB check to the RM HR guy) be a major problem?

I'm not in HR, but I would say that I doubt it, legally speaking a police caution is NOT a judicial punishment, it's basically you saying to plod, "I done something wrong." & plod saying "Fair enough, don't let us catch you doing it again."

Also before I joined, I worked for Chity Link as a multidropper, one day I left the van unlocked and unattended & when I got back to it, it was being cleaned out by two pikeys, long story short, I told the truth to my gaffer & got the sack, 6 months on the dole & application & interview for RM, in which I told the ugly truth of why I left Chity Link & the reasons around it....and I got the job - in my experience, honesty is the bet policy ( if only so I can look meself in the mirror every morning & not worry about someone sacking me for bullshitting on the application ).

An offence is a offence,no matter what,who or why,thats how its looked upon.Years ago I told a cop to get the f**k out of my way(yes i was drunk)and was done at court for threating words with cause to upset!! £ 50 fine..Its not on my basic disclosure,(10 years or less) but on my standard disclosure(every thing from warning upwards,lifetime)
A basic disclosure will not show up the caution,a standard one will(10 years) but for a standard one you are talking security/children/schools/etc upwatrds,not RM.You will be ok.Just had my checks done for a airport pass to drive airside so been through all this stuff.

Royal Mail don't do a CRB check, do they? It's a watered down alternative, as far as I'm aware. They certainly didn't run a proper CRB check on me, unless they called it something else.
