There are actually 2 seperate issues here:
1) The threats were made to MEMBERS of the CMA, and NOT (as far as I'm aware) directly to the CMA itself.
2) There's a difference between cowardice, and CHOOSING to stab people in the back. There were plenty of CWU Members who were too afraid of the financial consequences, to go out on Strike with us. And that, in my opinion, is WORSE than CMA Members Strike Breaking.

Do either of these points mean that we shouldn't consider the CMA a Union?
Not in my opinion, no. Does it mean that we should descend to the same level, and refuse to give help and/or advice to those who've already lost their jobs, or are about to?
Of course not! We're better than that, aren't we?

I know that I for one, am disgusted at the way these people have been treated! And for those of you, who ARE taking any kind of pleasure from their plight, after what they did to us. I'd like to point out, that now the precident has been set. It's not going to be too long, before we're faced with the same kind of treatment. Remember: It's cheaper to make someone compulsary redundant, than VOLUNTARY redundant. So if you don't want to show any sympathy or support for them. Perhaps you should consider trying to show some support for them, for your OWN sake.

your point about CWU members who didnt go out is slightly invalid andy, when we were in the process of being balloted in 2009 the union did state that they wanted a yes vote even if the member could not afford to strike as it was more about bringing RM to the table.


you are correct about the redundancy situation and i have no doubt that most if not all of us will be shafted one way or another in the near future either through failure of the revisions which seems to be starting now and ultimately through privatisation.

we were never supported in any way by any level of management IMO before, during or after any of our IA infact quite the opposite in my experience.
