In these times of us being told we are in the middle of one of the worst recessions and vital cuts are needed and people are losing there jobs,why are we not as a company looking at 3 day deliverys to residents/public,Mon, Wed,Fri, anything else pay extra ,EG: Special delivery, How many people honestly would miss the other days, and surely customers posting there mail would adjust quickly, then maybe this would level the playing field a little bit..we all know that georoute/peguses etc.. is a false agenda and will eventually finish RM as we know it, address the problem now within a open market and RM has got a chance.Simple Mon Del,Tues sort, Wed del, Thurs sort,Fri del,Sat sort.. PT WOULD MAKE SENSE, gone are the days when all walks went out anyway so whats the difference?

the more part-time dutys in our job the quicker royal mail will collapse.
full-time staff is the way forward,dont you listern to the staff on here with
30 hour contracts or 1 year contracts royal mail managers walk all over them.
as for only a delivery every other day are you sure you dont work for d.h.l or planing.

guessing...first lose saturday deliveries (except for specials maybe) and then deliver every other day (one poor sod to prep two frames every day but deliver one frame one day and then the other frame the next day).

I think this is already happening.If people cant complete on park and loop they are bringing stuff back and it is getting taken out the next day.Parcels where I work are frequently returned and sit around for a couple of days until they are delivered,A clear office policy clearly no longer exists.Managers must feel that they are allowed to do this 
.I think this points to a every other day delivery for consumers in the future unless you pay extra for it.
Those who tip at Christmas will presumably not notice this current disruption so keenly.
