pouches on park&loop??

we are about to start park&loop in our office,can someone please tell me if we can or cannot carry pouches anymore when we are using the trolleys from the van cz nobody knows for sure if its banned once we start park&loop???

i would advise against it.

if the duty has been planned using a LWT then use it.

it is in writing that it is a diseplinery for not using the supplied tools.

your DOM may turn a blind eye to save an hour or 2 in the office but it may come back and bite you further down the line.

banned - No don't think so.

However the P&L method of delivery should be planned to remove weight from the shoulder so I would stick to the planned methods.

It does raise one point though that I don't think has been addressed. If posties who are on P&L and have been given the equipment to take weight off the shoulder, ignore this and continue to use pouches, what happens if, or more probably when, they develop back, leg and knee problems attributable to using pouches, are they then partially to blame for the injury and could they then be conducted, warned etc if they go sick. Would it affect any payout for IHR.

All depends on the individual for me.we only lapse on tuesday.other time is our time and suits alot of us to still use bags to finish quicker.

I really want to know the answer to this one but it looks like it's one of them grey areas . I've read forum members posts stating it's mandatory to use the trolleys but I can't find any downloads to back this argument up . If anybody can post a download link it will be much appreciated .

in the Business Transformation 2010 and Beyond agreement
once assigned the use of new delivery methods equipment,
as specified for an individual route, is mandatory.

For example where a Light Weight Trolley (LWT) has been
assigned as the piece of equipment for the delivery route
then the post person assigned to this route must use this
piece of equipment.

Please be aware that the equipment is assigned for your delivery route based
on terrain, delivery type (town or rural), distance from office, efficiency and
safety. Failure to use correctly the equipment assigned to you may unfortunately
lead to personal injury. Training will be given on the correct use of new delivery
equipment before deployment.

The delivery method assigned to your route will be recorded in your walk log.

Failure to use the correct equipment in the first
instance will result in counselling, and further breaches
may result in disciplinary action.

The above is exactly how we work but is it right ? . Should we be carrying pouch bags on our shoulder or is it a 100% no no . All the old larger bags have been disposed of so no problem there . Technically we are using the equipment provided but we don't use the trolleys 100% of the time : confused

Thanks Fishtank for the download link . The statement " where possible to remove the weight from the shoulder " clears that up . . I presume the only place you can use pouch bags is delivering to flats due to security reasons .

well, the dom and his lacky were out 'kerb crawling' the other week, and they caught a lad on his round carrying a pouch, and he was told in no uncertain terms he HAD to use the lwt......however, the duty he is on is my old duty, and believe you me, its 95% steep hills.....most of them VERY steep. so the lad pointed out the impractibility of the trolley. their reply was to either push the trolley down hill whilst crisscrossing on the way down, then getting picked up at the bottom by the driver, or, using the small pouch just doing a street at a time, which is more time consuming, as you have more replenishment issues, and the van is parked quite a way away. so he,s got to use the trolley wether he likes it or not. he,s been told they,ll conduct code him, if he,s caught again. plus h&s are very stringent about us using them. so, no, you are not supposed to be using a pouch on your shoulder.
