I can't remember the last time anyone was taken on a full time contract? You may get a part time, rolling 3 month contract if you are lucky [or unlucky depending on your point of view?]

You'd probably be better off forgetting the idea altogether and start looking for a proper job instead, no one in thier right mind would WANT to work for the Royal Fail at this present moment in time!

RM seems to be only taking on Part timers but you could probably work overtime to bump up your pay close to full time wage. Might be worth checking out this site a bit to find out what its really like if you decide to try part time. Its not great to be honest!

If you work for Royal Mail you probably will get a 28 hours contract and get enough overtime if you want the work to make it full time. But you won't get full share of bonus and holiday pay due to being pro rata.

Just get a job there then apply for full time reserve duty when there is a vacancy and if you want a full time job with your own walk. Don't even think about it.

Sadly Steve, R/M is not the place to be looking for work any more. It is the least secure job in the marketplace now, and working coditions are abysmal--can only echo what other people are saying, don.t do it!

They would never take on full time,But the way things are you could make up your hours with overtime easily.

Our office has just made 2 part timers permanent full time and 6 others temporary full time,So you never know what lies ahead in the future.

RM has it's good points and bad points. For me the hours really suited for me. Being a single parent, the hours could be worked around school. The bad, I'll keep to myself until I get my IHR. Meeting tomorrow :) If it's full time work you're looking for I'd advise you to look somewhere else :)

Yeah as said above, it'll be part-time 25-30hr contract starting at 9am.

I'm sure you'll be able to do the two or so extra hours a day in overtime but this will be the annoying after 3pm overtime when it starts getting busy, kids start leaving school and you continually get the "the post is late today" comments from the public.

My advice... get a full-time 'normal' job.

would make that 20-30 hour contract. Most people in our office recently have been given 20 hour contracts but seems to vary depending on the bosses mood! i for instance have a 24 hours contract 4 days at 6 hours a day starting at 8am which seems to be unusual.
