EPOD Completion warning letters

Several staff were issued with warning letters at my office today for not filling in the time on the EPOD cards.

The letter was strongly worded in a 'three strikes and your out' manner.

My argument with management was that Royal Mail should issue us with watches or some form of time device so we can fill them in correctly.

Managment said I need to use my own watch or check time on my phone.

I asked if RM will insure my personal possesions against damage and theft if i used them on delivery - answer was no.

I argued that unless RM gave me the necessary tools to do the job it would be hard for me to complete this task.

Manager said i was just being difficult and walked away.

Do I have to use my own personal items at work if management demand it?

is it not the card you get for signing r/d items and s/d items .and yes if you need some thing to do your job then they should provide it.

No letters just a warning in a team huddle that there were a few failures in filling the cards out right.One guy shouted out "name and shame" turns out he was one of the culprits.

I would agree with your lino that you are being difficult! But you do have a very good point! i normally use my phone for the time but what if your battery runs out? what happens if your like me and dont own a watch? Does the letter say you have to fill out the correct time? You should put the same time on all the cards just to annoy your manager lol

And if no answer knock on neighbours doors till someone tells you the time.
Maybe we can get this time into the IWT.
And if all else fails you can take the 3 strikes in utter contempment knowing the Dom never got one over on you.

EPOD cards are being phased out anyway...and yes,pick...the PDA has a clock.

I have trouble putting the date on a 739- don`t know from one day to the next and the pda doesnt say. No dates on the letters any more either. I have to go back to the van and try and find out. Sometimes I`m 739ing a special and guess the date - & delivered the 739 the day before the special was posted , hows that for quality of service!

My guess is that if push came to shove then RM WOULD provide you with a suitable watch whatever if you GENUINELY don't wear one or take a mobile with you. Its a game of chicken...

Well yeah it is though, I know the jobs sucks but some people just seem to want to moan about everything. Buy a cheap watch, use your phone or ask the customer to write in the time. All an easy solution to filling out the card properly!

Plenty of times ive taken my phone out and dropped it, scratching it and chipping it. Now i leave it at home. I dont wear a watch as the strap causes skin irritation.
Correct tools for the job is what i want.
Maybe i should use my private car on delivery just too make things easier?

we even have to use our own phones to call the office or, more usually, for the office to call us!
