Should I stay or should I go?????

no job security on 3 month contracts, no idea of where and what i'll be doing everyday, no chance of having any holiday dates I may want, working every Saturday........summer months looming and nice family day outs/weekends away a definate no no, no uniform still. Spending not far off £100 per week petrol(not to mention wear n tear)

Or job with slightly better pay of approx £7.80 as delivery driver, 6 hours less per week(Don't do much overtime per week at R.M, approx 3-6hours) 12 mile round trip x 3 days=approx 40 mile per week(max 60) compared to 60-80 miles per day x 5. Permanent contract and I don't have to use my own car to get the job done ;-)

6.30-13.30 Mon,Tue and Wed....so I could even look for another job Thur and/or Fri


I do like my job as a postie but not knowing what and where i'll be working, if i'll be taking a full walk or 2 halves of 2 walks.... added with 2 hours driving per day has got me thinking as I have been offered another job

What will happen if I hand my notice in, regards my holiday owed?? will they honour it and pay me what i'm owed(Doubt it) as i'm due approx 9 days

should I have mentioned P&L has NOT came into force yet.......maybe that will have an impact on my enjoyment of the job as I will not do much o/t, not because I do not need the cash(Any extra cash is welcome ) but I like to see my family/have some sort of life

With P&L I predict either lots of o/t or lots of cutting off and I cant see the bosses being happy about me cutting off nearly everyday!!

even a diesel at 50mpg would still cost me £50 per week. Any idea RE unused holidays if you leave?? If i was at a closer office I could put up with being a floater, sometimes it can be a good thing

By law any holiday days owed to an employee are payable upon resignation. You will forfiet them if you get sacked though.

In English please ;-) Do not start the car thing on here!!!!! lol pros and cons, I chose to after 4 weeks of being left waiting for drivers, being told to get bus(where,when???) and not getting back to the D.O (as a result of the previous) at the time needed in order to arrive on time 4 collecting my little 1 35 miles away. Also, I think my office would be short of 75% of their workforce if I were to do that

What?, waiting untill 2 days before the end of ur contract to find if you will still be employed for another 3 months?? I think my balls were too big to start off with, not a arse licker so will never get given the so called 'better' jobs. Also as a result of these contracts, you cannot grow a pair as you haven't a leg to stand on.....problem????? you know where the door is!!!! I think the word FUTURE comes into mind here and FAMILY. So, having been offered this new job, it has made me question the what is best for my family......not just for me

Not small claims, use employment tribunal as its free. Next time your in work ask for a print off of your outstanding holidays. All monies owing when employment is terminated is payable within 14 days. However what will probably happen is you give RF 2 weeks notice, less 9 days holiday. So in effect you should work 1 day and still get paid for the next 2 weeks. If not give 1 weeks notice and tell them you expect 9 days holiday in your final pay.
