Says so in both the Delivery methods repick guidance and the BTA reps support pack.re-picks should comply with The Way Forward Agreement: Section 16 “Resourcing jobs during major change”.

What if there are 2 drivers going for 1 driving duty 1st driver been in job 25 years and a driver for 20 years 2nd driver been in job 23 years and a driver for 22. Who gets the driving duty the longest server or the one who has been recieving driving allowance the longest ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I cant see any MTSF issues that migh mean a alteration to seniority in that situation so it would be as POSTMAN says in my opinion.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
Couldn't see anything in the links telling the DIM to take any seniority into account when organising a Re-sign?
I would have thought there would be a section such as: "Establish an AGREED Seniority Roster for your Office"
This would have a bearing on Shepherdess' query and I know for sure there's a lot of people in my DO that are looking at the seniority angle. Especially if it's the difference between getting a Rural van duty of your own or being in a two man poop & scoop team

In both the links Dorset it says...re-picks should comply with The Way Forward Agreement: Section 16 “Resourcing jobs during major change”.
That's where your seniority comes from..

16.4
• The re-sign will be run using a national standard procedure based on seniority, and not take more than four weeks to complete. In very large units, agreement to an extension to this deadline must be given by the Head if Performance following local discussion between management and CWU. At the end of the exercise all jobs and reserve posts must have been signed for.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
Cheers FT I was scrolling through the wrong links
DIMs latest little Gem is, "I reckon if someone's doing more contracted hours they should have the edge on the Re-Sign over someone senior who is doing less contracted hours!"
He's got a couple of Favourites (who happen to be on 30hrs) and he's worried they won't get a FT Duty, as there's some senior guys (who are only on 24hrs) hoping to get first pick! As we've discussed before on RMC there's only one type of seniority:
Date of Starting.
Bummer.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
A previous DOM at my D.O came up with a revised version of "most senior individual" when it came to filling vacant duties.
Ive made it known to the current DOM that is not acceptable for the current crop of vacant duties.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
Well seniority does play its part BUT there are a number of exceptions, full or part time, DDA. Family Friendly issues - which may or may not involve children it may just be a caring for someone elderly. There needs to be a list of seniority of course but some duties could quite easily be "tailored" to suit an individual in the new duty structure that without just cause for refusal would be difficult to overturn.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
Please elaborate DV. We've discussed the Seniority problem before, are you suggesting that a FTer is automatically considered "senior" to a PTer? Not sure what DDA is, and Family Friendly is not something I think about when considering RM employment policy
I'm sure some individuals could think up some very convincing arguments to get a particular duty, especially if they are one of the DIMs favourites!
We have the example of someone who was FT for 10 years, transferred office and went PT(20 hrs) for the last 6 years. Do we have to work his seniority on a Pro-Rata Basis? i.e. 10 x 40 yrs 6 x 20 yrs = 13 years "Seniority"
Seems to be a charter for abuse by an unscrupulous DIM.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
No Dorset seniority is not pro-rata...16 years is 16 years even if you only work 8hrs on a saturday...anything else is unlawful.

Re: Are Re-Signs still based on the Way forward agreement?
Thought it was FT just wondered about DVs view on it. In a perfect world/Delivery Office we know a clued up DIM would do the job "Properly" and use his Family Friendly options and use his wealth of experience to keep treat everyone fairly.
Meanwhile back in the real world we know there's a lot of scheming, lying, cheating, unscrupulous, bonus grabbing DIMs out there that need to be read the appropriate section of a particular agreement (that they've conveniently forgotten) whenever they try it on.
Rant Over.
That's why I love this site as no where else can you get the back up!
