This is quite a complex issue,but if your walk has been plotted (Geo-route) on the basis of you using a trolley,you would have a reduced walking speed and in theory should still have sufficent time.
It's up to you really,would you prefer to stroll round and walk back to the office with an empty trolley,or would you rather take another bag of mail?
you'd be surprised how many choose the latter,because there logic is "i need to finish near my car"

We were told in the first week of p&l that you must use the trolleys , if you don't you will be disciplined . Now it's just a free for all , posties can deliver any way they want and managers are turning a blind eye because of the money their saving . Once we have finished we are now allowed to go home early but sadly it's only ocassionally .

I will never hump massive bags around just to finish early but a lot at our office sadly do .

All I can say about this thread is unbelievable! If you are meant to use a trolley, use a trolley! The days of making time has gone, the sooner you realise that the better.

The days of making time has gone, the sooner use realise that the better.

Sorry but our office and the original posters office are allowed to go home early once finished . Other than working from the back of a van and working in pairs nothing at our office as changed . We do have a small minority ( including myself ) that realise getting the weight off our backs far outweighs finishing early .

Have you just had a revision or resign at your depot, bensonhedge, or have either looming on the horizon? By helping the managers fudge the figures of how long a walk really takes instead of using the correct method assigned to a walk, all the trolley ditchers are creating a minefield for future colleagues on those rounds...

Like you said iloveMYredTROLLEY " Fred used to " . I'm afraid Fred got the sack because he had to much time off on the sick , bad back apparently .

Cutting corners is addictive....as is finishing early.
It starts with overweight bags then moves onto skipping breaks,signing for recorded's,skimming D2D and doorstepping packets.
Once you start "making time" it's very difficult to stop and as they start piling work on you become more inventive to compensate.
Not every flyer cuts corners but the majority of those who cut corners are flyers...chasing time.
It's a slippery slope with a P45 at the bottom.
