MOTION 55 – ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2010

LTB 1143/10 gave an interim update on the progress of Motion 55.

The intention of the motion and the spirit was that the material will be provided to branches in sufficient time to be able to digest and analyse the data.

Therefore please find attached the document as requested by CWU Annual Conference 2010.

MOTION 55
“Conference notes the current financial crisis, the drop in membership of the CWU and the impact on union finances. Conference therefore, agrees that along with other measures, a review of the number of national officers should be carried out along with a review of the salaries paid. A report should be provided to all branches with recommendations on how to proceed in making savings by Dec 2010.”

It's all in there...names,salaries,benefits...the lot.

good stuff fishtank.just trying to take it all in,what immediately jumped out was that the 110 grand that is regularly
quoted on here as Billy Hayes salary is really 88 grand which funnily enough is roughly what Bob Crow gets paid,ill
have to put a few records straight now.Still think thats too much though.

Also can see why they have 35 hour week as a flag ship policy because thats the hours all CWU officers work.

What should be remembered when comparing CWU officers pay with those in the private sector is that local reps
put in loads of hours and recruit members for no pay or financial reward.

Is a union just another business or is it something else altogether?

Bit confused. They reckon the average wage of members is nigh on £24k ,somebody must be raking in buckets of cash cos that figure is £7 k over the basic of everyone I know.

Nice to see they think they deserve an extra £40 k cos of their "special skills" surely not a mini Leighton gambit Still our pain is your pain I think that lot might find they just drowned the golden egg laying goose when the the mega gravy train got derailed

Agreed....Billy is one thing but it's the "who?" and the "does what exactly?.... that's more worrying.

Of more importance is how effective our own officers are. This though is un-measurable in that there will always be individuals or groups of individuals who believe another individual should, or does, work better, faster, harder etc.


Maybe they should have an IWT style revision at 150 the broadway,if its good enough for the goose its good enough...
