Geo route on collections.

Hello all !

Does anyone know if theres are nationally agreed times for Boxes, Buisnesses and Post office clearences on Collections.

Been told ;

Boxes- one minute
Buisnesses- three minutes.
Post Offices(including Crown Offices) - five minutes.

That's all well and good but does that mean that you can leave businesses/POs after the alloted time whether you're finished or not?

I don't think their is a set time.i think it has to go through a planning stage just like a delivery revision..

I don't see how that can possibly work when there is such a huge variance in the volumes and hence time taken to clear boxes, counters and firms.

yip but if they are trying to use geo route on deliveries it should come as no surprise that collections would get the
same treatment,e-mail Bob Gibson im sure he will put your mind at rest.

Takes me 5 mins just to clear the bags,if i'm lucky!

they is a six step process i think stage one is data gathering. We gave three minutes minuim to firms and four for Po going up to 15 for large post offices. I would try and find any old agreaments and work from there we had a trandos agreament which was 1.8 stick boxs and1.3 for pillar boxes and 2mins for heavy po boxes, in the end i think we gave them all 1.3 mins apart from post office boxes. So until you agrea then do not sign the stages of. Also test as many busy roads as you can to get the average speeds down. Some of the default speeds in colours and in kilometeres (on map) are to high one example was 21mph in a 20 mph zone. do not forget it is only a platform to work from and will need jigging about. Also worth arguing about terms of the licence which means you can not offer a worse service before the licence was granted so the times of post offices on a saturday and a noon can not be aleterd to make the routes more efficient becasue on the saturday and half days they would be a worse service.

rough guess was 2003 can check if needed. Our planner run my 8 collections through then took out the boxes with less than 100 items and come up with two collections.So my problem was losing 6 full time collection duties. First point i argued was how do you get ten yorkies of mail on two vans. Then the terms of the licence which meant you could not get the nearest post office when the planner wanted to do, which meant they geo route making more runs. Also he could not alter the staurday to much , he wanted to make the 8 saturdays into 4/5 monster collections. One point to note is geo 2010 now has you going to point to point, so the only drive time you get is from a to b , so if you are at say a post office then go to a firm in the opposite direction it has you turning on a sixpence rather than what happens in the real world when you drive down the road till you can make a u turn. So hence you need to build as much service time i as you can. ALso ask for the best pratice revsion guidlines, one point i argued was for collection growth to be built in ie: a buffer. in the end they walked away leaving the tea time runs as they were even though the geo route said we could lose three tea time collections. Plus do not forget the utr( under the roof work) cutting and tipping which is in the revsion guidlines so should be built in
