We dont get a full Meal releaf now, without going over.... meal releafe suffers to get back on time (VAN SHARE) ..... i am looking forward to a FULL 40 MINUTE break during the summer..! :cuppa

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

You are paid for a meal relief at RM if you surrender it then you are in effect working for free. Its not that you can't take a break - its that you can't fit the work into the planned time frame and that is a management problem. Whilst I understand why you do it, why make life easier for them when they obviously are failing in their responsibilities.

Sometimes I really don't get the management culture prevalent in RM, one thing is for sure it would not survive anywhere else outside of RM.

So .......... have 40 min break, go back late......... and they refuse to pay overtime.............. argue us down, and walk away.

No lapsing in our office any more, we just cover unforeseen sickness and absence, and so far there hasn't been any of that!

We had a duty vacant today and the mail was soooooooooooooooooo dead. Absorb? lapse?
NO!! One guy did his delivery and then did the other duty after. :shock:
Wonder how much OT he will get for that considering he will have been finished by 3.30pm.

I also wonder what will happen the next time they ask us to lapse a duty :chuckle

yes we are lapsing 3 walks every day no matter what the volumes of mail are.5/6 walks in summer.nochange at all.but still not on park and loop yet.

our office is very small,we lapse 1 duty,but we have 4 other dutys were people have retired /left etc ,but these are not being advertised,a disgrace really,just think how much they are saving,on the subject of breaks for a 40 min,i normally have 10 mins ,the other 30 mins goes on the docket,you have part of your meal break the rest goes on the sheet . :roll:
