driving duties
can a manager force you to do a rural driving duty even if you say you would rather not drive a rm vehicle nemore ?

yes if you have been driver assessed and you have been trained to do it then yes they can.

cheers guys for the replies. the managers just being a dick lol. im on ff at the moment so i said i would do the duty but finish on my dutys time lol so at least half the rural wont b done.

yes it is a big rural not 10 hours tho but long enough. new houses etc done it about a year ago lol

I'm sure,don't quote me though that if you haven't done driving for the business for 6 months you have to have another test,or is that an urban thingy?

They can't make you drive it's your licence not there's unless u picked a duty with driving content, be prepared for what may come after you tell them lol

Not quite correct. Ifyou started the job recently the contract does state occasional driving. Also if you have previously driven for RM they can ask you again. However if you have a license, its not in your contract (or any agreement), and you have never driven for RM then they cannot force you to drive.

i last did this driving duty 1 year ago but was in a better frame of mind than now. im covering the duty for this week but the dom knows its against my will. i have wrote a letter of complaint to dom and sector manager. what or where this will get me i dont know lol. the stupid thing is i cut off and the stuff i bought back was taken out on overtime by the guy who normally covers the duty.so y the normal cover guy cant do it with no cost in overime i dont know lol.

When I applied the job was "Postman with driving" but it does not mention driving at all in my contract
