Re: Clocking In/Out
In any business there is a need to log employees in and out and surely this day moving away from a paper system can only benefit the majority of workers.

Re: Clocking In/Out
Good point but as I never finish before my time then it wouldn't be a problem to me.tolkien wrote:and the managers saying they are not paying you for working over your time ,because you you got back early last tues (insert any day )

Re: Clocking In/Out
I wouldn't have a problem if the system was capable of taking into account the fact that: 1) You worked through your break that day, 2) you are taking flex time that day. You know it'll be conduct code if you're shown as clocking out 1min before your finish time.
Other than that it should prove you were on site for the hours, you should get paid for them - no more bookroom hours paid arguments (ha, as if that'll ever happen!) not to mention those people who stop working 15min early and fanny about talking for 20min before heading out the door to make it look like they're going on time...

Re: Clocking In/Out
Why would you work though your break in the first place?
But you have a good point about flexing.

Re: Clocking In/Out
Taking the break at the end of duty to knock-off early. It makes no difference to anyone as you're working the same amount of time and getting the same work done (except in situations where you have dead periods during the hours worked). I do it sometimes as I'd often rather leave early than have a break and leave later.andy2007 wrote:Why would you work though your break in the first place?

Fair enough. I hadn't thought about it that way.

Re: Clocking In/Out
I voted yes for the hope of actually being paid everytime when i go over my contracted hours.
But looking at the situation with our drivers who have gps tracking and still have trouble with OT i doubt that would happen!

Re: Clocking In/Out
I voted yes, mostly because I would like to see the back of signing in sheets. What I don't like about them is that they can be swept aside after a certain time when everyone has got into work. So it's okay to be seen signing in a bit late, but not so worthy to have it there at all other times. Because of this, I don't bother signing back in. I mean, what's the point?
Of course, I would like there to be more transparency, or openness, so that all around are able to see upfront who is doing what and how long it is taking them, which would be far more potent than someone entering data into some dubious piece of software.
...Trouble is, I don't think it will happen, mostly because RM will always run for cover of whatever privacy laws they deem will hide their faults and any transparency that will call into question their behaviour. So unfortunately, I don't think it will ever happen, well not that way, anyhow.

Re: Clocking In/Out
When I worked for safeway and morrissons, we had swipe cards like credit cards, we had to swipe in no more than 3 mins early or 3 mins late and at the end of shift you had to swipe out no more than 3 mins late but not early. It was linked to the payroll system and if anyone clocked in or out outside of their scheduled times it would ge flagged and repeat occasions you would be in the office to explain yourself.
Just before I left they brought in having to clock in and out for your unpaid lunch breaks as well but not your paid tea breaks.
Was a good system in my opinion

Re: Clocking In/Out
had a situation this week when staff got really pissed off with individuals consistantly late and not doing their fair share of ips. managers should use late attendance procedure, but we all know they cant be bothered. clocking in has got to come in.
