so 2nd absence
now by
Stage 1: 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period Stage 2: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
Stage 3: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
In deciding whether these standards are met for employees whose trial was recently confirmed, attendance during the whole of employment is considered, not jut from the date trial is confirmed. An employee whose trial has been confirmed following an improvement to the required triallist standard will be put back to the previous stage of the Attendance Procedure but the criteria appropriate to a non-triallist will then apply.
Doesn't necessarily mean it will be issued though.

more than likely will though, they put me on one 3 years ago, i was off with heart problems. ive even heard they,ve staged people when they,ve got cancer. judging cases on merit is a load of old shyte. despicable.
You could have some chronic health condition and only have weeks maybe days to live and any manager would still issue a stage warning. Its the procedure and theres nothing you can do about it.

No it's not it's the way that managers are allowed to apply it.

If reps are allowing managers to issue stages like feckin robots it's not surprising that they will keep trying to get away with it.
they are told that they are to issue every stage if not they get their arses whooped. so not really any point in going to the stage interviews imo (mind you get a sit down for 10 mins while the wanna-be manager waffles )
The attendance procedure is not there to punish you. It is there to encourage good attendance patterns.
But you need to argue your case - the issuing of stage warnings should not be mechanistic.
And you really need to understand which medical conditions are covered by the Equality Act (formerly the Disability Discrimination Act) because they cannot issue stage warnings to people covered by it. If they do, it is discrimination and you then use the IR framework to protect your members. (Or the law - whichever is easier)

It would be as legal as sacking someone for becoming pregnant or being a Catholic.And if the DOM soesn't understand that he will end up in a lot of s**t.

Have to agree with the brother fishtank, mate of mine got called into DOMs office for what he presumed would be a stage 1 warning but the DOM treated it on it's merits taking into account length of service etc and the fella came out smiling as it was never issued.

stages are always issued in my office.then again we have never had great reps

totally agree, a mate of mine who went onto managements side of the fence a few years back, (he,s retired now) told me exactly that. he had 9 stage one interviews pending, and he was instructed by the dsm 'to issue every one of them.' of course i put this to the courier to see what they had to say.......surprise!! not a mention.
