What do we think??

Just received this from the Rep.

With the implementation of Walk Sequencing mail into ########### DO w/c 7th February it is clear that current Saturday attendance times do not meet the workplan for these changes.

Therefore, it is agreed that we will implement the following changes to Saturday attendance times commencing Saturday 19th February 2011.

All delivery duties to commence at 06:15, instead of 05:00

This does not affect the overall attendance or change the long/short attendance Monday to Saturday and therefore, where current duties attend for 7 hours this will remain.

This interim agreement will have no bearing on forthcoming proposals around changes to attendance times as we are not yet at a position to quantify the potential additional outdoor opportunities.



I have agreed this as change is inevitable, and the CWU should be seen in a positive light maintaining quality of service to the best of our abilities. It was the resistance to proposed change without any benefit to the members that has helped to bring about the progress in recent weeks that should advance the lumpsums.

We voted for a standardised 6 day workplan...no point bitching about it now.
...bit of a shitty way to bring it in but.....the end result is what we agreed to.

I think it is out of order your rep agreeing to this without giving you a vote on it. After all dont the union say "you" are the union then why dont the members get a say. Sounds to me like your rep just wants a quiet life and doesnt want to make work for himself.

Havn't started at 0500 since SDD but I do remember that offices were allowed to revert back on a Sat
With WSM I think it is where you are in the pecking order from the M/C that dictates your start times

On what basis could you vote against standardising the workplan?
This isn't a revision...it's doing exactly what the agreement says.
If you don't get the majority of your mail until say...0600 how can an office retain a 0500 start with a 7hr day?
They should have had more notice...that's all.

Whilst its difficult to comment on your office , I would not accept any change to start times before the formal revison. Equally I dont buy the fact that you cant have the work earlier , remember the first wave of work would be processed from thye mail centre before midnight .

Prior to the walk sequencing machines going live and well before the revision there should have been the setting up of the regional steering group and the local group. These meetings should have checked what percentage of work would be on wave 1 , what time each batch should come off the machines and what time your wave 2 is completed and due to come to your office. The regional group should have the area processing rep , area delivery rep , area distruibution rep and along with their counter parts in management. They should see how early they can get the mail into the office. The actual agreement states the worklplan must meeting the demand of the attendance patterns etc.

Now in my experience when you see all the information you will often find that your sequenced work is ready early enough but it has either been taken back to the mail centre and there is not a distrubtion run early enough for your office or it is sitting in the MPU. You need to ask if such a meeting has taken place and why you cant have your work earlier.

It's all good though cause dingo said that it's usually just lying about somewhere so no probs.
I think i might go for a shuftie at the "longer and later saturdays" thread...should be interesting.

Hi I work at a D.O that start 6.00 mon-fri and early start sat 5.00 suits most at least you have sat afternoon to do your sport or what ever you want working until 3pm or 4pm no good to anyone vote out later Saturday Starts

Donr agree without a vote. Go in at 5 either work to your time or claim ot. Its not your fault that you dont get your mail till later. They offered us £200 to change sat start times prior to the full ws revision we said no and kept on claiming the ot we will get the £200 when the ws revision comes in as well as the ot in the mean time

Most people i ask did not vote for this agreement ,our rep wanted us all to vote yes . Is this the same all over the country most staff members voting no? Can the vote be rigged?
