Well we've seen out the 2010 part of the deal ,now for the BEYOND bit, i've always said to colleagues that the beyond part of the deal is what we should be most worried about,yet it falls on deaf ears 80% of staff are starting early, giving free time not taking meal relief, rushing out of office so they can try to finish a little early, and guess what, we now have a missort run back on and rumours are rife about collapsing of duties,which union rep shook his head to but hasn't denied, after 12 weeks of P/L hell, strangely we've hit a quiet period that can give us a bit of respite but these morons are shooting us all the foot, what everyone should bare in mind is , any free time becomes their time.

sounds like my office.yesterday was a 2pm finish.there was one postman back at 11.coming in early,not taking a break,jumping over fences instead of using the pathway,litrally running instead of walking.it all adds up.

and then the managers use them as a gauge for the rest of us.i.e.why cant you get finished like so and so.GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

My cover man said he finished at 1015 the other Saturday (Well he do start an 1 Hour early each day)

same in my office,staff comein 15 + minutes early to put door to doors in i tell them come in on your time these are part of your workload now,might as well talk to a brick wall.i have part of my meal break the other part goes on the docket.why cant the mail come into offices earlier,start earlier like we used to finish earlier.customers happy,staff happy,management happy everyones a winner.i had 9 bags of mail today finised 3.17pm,had 15 minute break.you all think im full time,WRONG on 36 hrs a week,this job is an utter joke,CUSTOMERS STILL WANT THERE MAIL EARLY,BUT RM WOULD SOONER HAVE US 9-5

The managers use it as a gauge to decide how much lapsing is possible.
Free time is their time. The agreement speaks of working all your hours.
Finishing early might be shooting yourself in the foot, but it is shooting your colleagues in the head.

the mindset of many walking postmen is exactly this! they still feel the need to make time and finish early...these fools will be the death of us all.

During the bad weather when we weren't going out on delivery.
Loads of staff in my office cleared their mail from the primary early (before it was up) to run back to there frames to prep in. Then worked through there tea break!!!
Were they thought they were going i don't know.

Theres only one answer to stop this coming in early lark. PUT IN A CLOCKING IN MACHINE. It'll stop all those twats going in early, and they won't be able to leave until 3pm like all you other boys and girls that do it to the letter of the law!!

Fair play to your cover. While your pounding the streets, he is home with his family enjoying time with them. Or pounding the fairways at his local golf course improving his game.
