Saturday special delivery?

I always thought that a special delivery on a saturday wasn't guaranteed before 1pm unless it had a SG sticker on it, is this not the case? Somewhere back in the mists of time I'm sure we were told to get 'em delivered but don't worry about the time! Has it changed?

All our reg's go out on a sat unless they are firms which are closed ie: sat retentions.

Yeh, all our's go out as well, it's just that we didn't have to deliver by 1pm

The next day 1pm delivery guarantee only applies to working days (Mon-Fri).

• For Special delivery Next day, 1pm on the next working
day after handover or on a Saturday if you choose to
have a Saturday guaranteed delivery ;

working day... Monday to Friday (and may include Saturday if you have opted to
have a Saturday guaranteed delivery) of any week excluding any
Public or Bank Holidays in any part of the UK or Northern Ireland.

Thanks Fish, that's what I thought. I delivered a special at around 1.30pm on Saturday and have been told that it was a failure because it missed the deadline....I didn't realise there was a deadline?

Unless it's specifically a 'Saturday Special' (which costs extra) then you have until 1pm Mon.

My finishing time on Saturday is 1pm so all my specials are delivered by then but if I didn't then I'd just treat them the same as I do all other specials........deliver by 1pm.

Our manager said that several specials failed recently including mine, she said that in this instance no action will be taken against me for this failure but it must not happen again!!
I'm still a bit confused on what the difference the SG makes?

How does the cage deal with that? i.e. they 'receive mail' then how would they show what happens next 'Saturday retention' if it doesn't go out till Monday? would you 'confirm' it'? Been told all SD goes out SG or not and delivered by 1pm regardless.

Most offices do them as normal like my place and i also get them done before 1.
On very rare occasions if they come down on a late coach they are sometimes left for monday but tbh i don't like that as i think it's a bit unfair on customers.

I guess if your office policy is to do them and you don't then they feel they can conduct you.

Question though,why were they done after 1 when it should be common knowledge that that is the deadline.

Ok 1pm it is then. We don't knock off until around 3pm so a Saturday special can be a big problem if it had a SG sticker otherwise we'd deliver it whenever we got there regardless of time. We've been doing this since I started over 15 years ago, never been a problem or been mentioned before

...because in the T&Cs it's a Mon-Fri spec.
Sat Guarantee is a premium service and should have the yellow SG sticker.
Anything else can't fail on a Saturday because the system won't let it.
If it's delivered after 1pm on a saturday it's still inside it's spec.
