Had our new lino being trained up on our division last few days! Hes a fairly young but experienced guy and believe hes transfered from another DO close by. Anyway to cut a long story short today was the first time ive spoken to the geezer and seemed quite reasonable when i asked for some overtime for going over yesterday. Found out like 30 mins later the first conversation i had with my soon to be new lino he lied to my face and conned me out of an hours pay! Hes not even in charge of our division yet so god knows know what hes going to be like once let loose on his own! Sorted the OT out with someone else so didnt loose anything just shocking how blatantly these managers dont give a f***!
No real point to my post but just thought would just share an insight from the trenches....
we too have a new lino in his 20s, supposedly temp just covering but he is talking like he is going to take over the office......
certainly not workshy and is always willing to deliver a duty.
We had a guy like that and he was given one of the best performing divisions in the DO. They must have have thought whats the worst he could do? 2 months in and the division is the worst in the DO and hes been demoted holiday cover!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. Yeah thats what i have experienced in the past. Thats why i was so shocked that this manager tried to shaft me before even taking over the division properly or learning my name! He hasnt even got his foot in the door yet doesnt look promising for the future!
In the forces we had a term for this type of "superior" which sounds homophobic but it isn't - we called them Gay Blades - Gay as in Happy amd smiling at you - Blade as they always stabbed you in the back.

Youre right there.My wife works with someone whos husband is a dom.I met him not long ago just after I left RM.He didnt know that I had worked for RM and got him talking.Now if thats what he thinks of his offices postmen/women then god help those who are still on the job.Personally as a person he is a twat and thats not because hes a dom.Wouldnt trust him a millimetre.

In most delivery ofices there is a fence as big as the Berlin wall.
On one side is the postie (us) On the other side are the managers.
They will lie,cheat,con,bully and do everything possible to get the job done for nothing.
Never yet met a manager I would trust.
Sad but true.

We've been told to make sure you wear your ID card when in the office Redletter. I'm sure that's so the DIM can read your name. Doesn't help if it's in your breast (?) pocket!.

What are these ID cards you speak of?! lol been asking for mine for months and none of the managers seem to care. We only started to sign in during the snow backlog as they didnt want the press sneaking in! Our security is a joke....

Oh please, be fair!.... there are is a huge number of posties that have no problem shafting RM and come to think of it other posties as well as you very well know!
Me, if my manager is being reasonable then I'll be reasonable.... WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE AFTER ALL ..... if he's being unreasonable then I'll be an obstinate fu*k and do everything I can to frustrate him into giving up.
