we were told this morning at our huddle that we would start lapsing again on monday.our office hasnt done lapsing since the start of november ,fair enough but the the two part time boys that started in october who have covered the 2 lapsed duties will be in for a shock as they likely to be sent eleswhere that is short staffed

about 50 walks in our office. gotta save money and the business so we are back to collapsing 2 walks again. but, now we are collapsing these 2 walks, the 2 people who was doing them, are now spare, and just..well. sit around , get paid, and do nothing. are the managers completey dumb.

Managers are hopeless in my experience. During my 14 years my unit has certainly had no less than 10 DOM's, and we are a 10 duty rural spdo. Most of our managers have little or no experience as posties, and yet are in charge of say half a dozen offices of some of the most all round and experienced guys and girls going. They have now introduced "team leaders" to our office who for a couple of extra quid a week do the day to day work of the DOM. Needless to say work time learning although a farce in itself is non existent in my unit.
I find it incredibly annoying when we are told to adopt new ways of working by these people, not because we are dinosaurs stuck in our ways but we know what will and won't work.... on most occasions it WON'T! i personally would applaud systems to make the job more efficient but like many others i feel it is change for the sake of change... and more cynically to give someone who gets paid a lot more than me (not earns), something to do.
