Late start ......Sept 17th.?

Post by Howard »

We had some shirt come to our small DO earlier this week, cluster manager or more broadly, a job for the boys I think he was.
Anyway,he grinds the ips to a halt and announces that there has been an agreement that from sept17th the later start time will come into being,6am or 6.30am depending on how we? work it with our DOM.
He continues that the early allowance will be paid into our wage not for 3 years but permanently aslong as youve been there for a year.
Now ,our office had the union rep leave about 8 months back and weve just got a bloke to take up the post,so cant blame him in not knowing beforehand as hes only just getting his feet wet and upto his balls in the strike stuff.
Im in the Manchester area and just wondered was this a nationwide thing or just regional....?

Cheers.

This should all be on hold now as RM and CWU are apparently in meaningful negotiations and RM have said they will not impose anything via EA and the union have said strikes are suspended. SO hang tough mate its all going to change.

don't blame the rep this was conjured up so that none of us knew it was coming. Am wondering now how they will bring this in on 17th as they are not allowed to give us the legal 28 days required whilst the talks are going on. That's the way I read it anyway. I am sure I will be corrected if wrong

One thing happened in our office today was the DOM went to our deputy rep and said well the later starts still go ahead. I heard, and had printed a copy of the statement signed by Crozier and Leighton and the Union and pointed out the bit about nothing will be forced in. The DRep went to the DOM and I'm sure the DOM went white and is as we type probably ringing his area boss, who is probably ringing their Divisional Boss etc all the way up the line.

and did you notice this news was on the front page of the RM courier, so they must have made the decision to say this rubbish weeks ago to get it printed in time, whilst continuing to refuse talks with the CWU. . . . I'm convinced this is nowhere near as simple as it seems . . . . . just a matter of time before the strings appear

P.S. found 1 string already . . . . you only keep the payment whilst you stay on your present duty NOT all the time you work for RM, so, what happens if we have a major restructure in the office and a full repick, do we all loose the payment ?

You should still get it in my view as allowances protected under MTSF switch to grandfathers rights and i presume that includes any future changes that would bring MTSF in to play.

Grandfathers rights is cheaper for RM than putting allowances into basic pay as the allowance will not be paid to new recruits who undoubtedly be on later starts 0531 onwards starts shift allowance stops does it not? So as people leave their protected allowance goes back to RM so we need a deal that captures it and puts it back into basic pay therefore keeping RM to their word of it being the exact same amount of money for them to pay out!

its all smoke and mirrors with them.
the start time issue is a disaster in the making.
in our office we are told the start times would be 0515,0540 and 0640.
phg's ,drivers and some walks starting at 0515 depending in the buisnesses they deliver to.
posties starting at 0540 some days and 0640 others.

WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY HAVE TO GIVE US 28DAYS NOTICE BEFORE CHANGING OUR DUTIES, AND THAT THEY CAN'T SERVE NOTICE WHILST TALKS ARE GOING ON AND IF THEY GO ON TILL 4TH SEPT THAT DOES NOT GIVE ENOUGH TIME TO BRING IT IN ON 17TH SEPT

Last week the DUM had the afternoon manager trying to give the S.A. boys a letter each inviting us to a cosy huddle to 'discuss' how to alter the S.A.'s 'when' the six o'clock starts come in, avoided getting one but read it on the desk. Unanimous response from all of 'No CWU agreement, no meeting!' so back to the drawing board there. . . . :funneh :funneh :Very Happy :Very Happy   :Applause :Applause
