THE FIGHT'S NOT OVER YET . . .

I'm getting a bit concerned at all the negative comments I'm reading on here about the suspension of action for 3 weeks

Let's get this in perspective . . . the CWU promised from day one that if Leighton entered meaningful talks they would stop the strikes, they kept their word and have just suspended action whilst they make sure he is serious about negotiating and not just reiterating old points. The agreement to cease action has within it the right to withdraw and restart action at any point if the union believe Leighton is wasting their time.

We have all been on the picket lines to force Royal Mail to listen to us and that is what the union is now making sure happens, we now have to trust the CWU to negotiate on our behalf a worthwhile deal.

Why start slagging the union off now before they've told us what that deal is, we've done our bit, now we have to let the top union boys do theirs. . . . . reserve judgement until that deal is announced and then we get our say again.

Untill that time we must not stop our fight at local levels, don't go back to old ways and keep working to those 318's

I agree, all we have at the moment is a pause, lets not lose heart while these`talks` are ongoing. Why should we assume they will NOT be to OUR advantage? I really can not understand why this should be, maybe because of what has happened in the past? if so, we can not change that. We live in the present. We brought big AL&C TO THE NEGOTIATION `TABLE` not the other way round! If we need to, we can do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So lets wait and see, we have been `heard` when they both tried to ignore us, even I do not think they are so stupid as to think we will not continue if a FAIR RESOLOUTION can not be found. Lets be a bit more upbeat about all of this, we have done well, we have given the Union PEC a `good hand ` to play from.

(Negotiation = to confer with another so as to arrive at the settlement of some matter through conference, discussion, and compromise.)

Now if WE are not happy with what the PEC do, we tell them to continue negotiating. untill they get the best for us they/we can, chins up everyone.

Good on you billypants I too was surprised at all the negativity on here 'suspended until 4th september' was what it said, at least the public support will not wane. In my office they tried keeping us sorting 'til 07:30 last week so we all cut off. They went back to stopping at the usual time this week leaving mail for the S.A. boys to do and lapsing first wave collections, but when the office became the one with the most backlog in the area the screws left hand began to grope for the right and O/T was offered yesterday to clear it. Amazing what a lack of goodwill can do. If this is the pattern in other places maybe all of us that stayed out should give ourselves some of this

I think it's a mixed bag at the mo guys,tbf i've perhaps calmed a bit as well
There's been some very good posts on it all.
In all fairness the union have always said 'You negotiate and we'll stop the IA'
So,we're here now,lets hope we come out all right-ish.

the CWU have kept the high moral ground we have kept our word all the way thru this IA

royal mail have shown how low they are prepared to go and s**t on there workforce

i know who i trust and so do my fellow workers in my office

This is not real negativity.

Its just that all the lazy gits were enjoyin an extra day off every week and treatin it like a holiday, how do you think it was so hard to get them to picket.

Thought I might have got a hard time encouraging men to go on strike, but instead i am gettin a hard time cause we have asked them to go back to work ha ha

Cant Win.

This post and your starting one Is just how WE.. The CWU should play it.... BUT NEVER LET GO OF OUR RIGHTS TO CARRY ON THE STRIKE..... All i can say on a + note... "HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO KNOW THEY LIE AND CHEAT AND WILL NEVER CHANGE UNLESS WE CHANGE."? (1) OUR WAYS OF WORKING. ie 318's .(2) NEVER LETTING SLIP OUR GOOD WILL AGAIN... ?? DONT DO A THING IF THEY AINT PAYING...... NEVER..... IT AINT A FECKING CHARITY!!
